Overlooking the crocs, this place is brilliant to chill for an afternoon, great bird life, great cold beers, amazing food!

I went there couple of times both for lunch that to have a drink.
The tables in the garde are close to a crocodiles pool and with a wonderful view on the beach.
I found a very good baobab juice and plate of fish not so bad.
Service a little bit slow and price quite high considering the average in The Gambia.

We enjoyed lunch here under straw shade and right next to the lagoon!
The service was a little slow but this didn't matter to us as we enjoyed watching the birds swooping over the lagoon for a drink. We were also treated with a crocodile swimming by just under the surface ... what an experience!
Fantastic walk on a deserted beach after lunch too.

Went for dinner here last night, as others say a must if you're in the area. Very pleasant outdoor dining with comfortable setting in separate large round tables, giving privacy and space. Also option to go inside to dine or have a drink. We had a very chilled out night listening to music by a local band and watching the local kids in the distance playing on the beach as the sun went down. I ate "fish in foil" which was a lovely white fish with boiled potatoes and peppers in a white wine sauce, hubbie had beef kebab witha large salad which he said was very tasty, we washed it down with a bottle of delicious house white, all in bill came to 1720d, not the cheapest you can get in The Gambia but well worth it. Don't hesitate to go and enjoy this tranquil restaurant

At gambian beaches, you often have to choose between nice scenery, good food or good and fast service. Or rather between nice scenery and good food, since service is often friendly, but rarely fast.
Calypso seems to be able to manage all of this. Good food and very professional service. Everywhere is clean, even the toilets.
But think twice if the restaurant is almost full. The staff is to small to handle a friday afternoon rush,So if there are just a few free tables, you may not want to sit down unless you have a lot of time, because service is just as slow as everywhere else.
Is the restaurant just half full? Sit down and enjoy.
Here is even a private crocodile pool, the crocodile is being fed every day at 4 oclock.
The sandy beaches are sloping very gradually here, making this a good place for children to swim and play in the sea, while the parents are relaxing in the shadow.
