“What a wonderful weekend!”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Inn last weekend and had a wonderful time. Nancy is very efficient and welcoming without being intrusive. We loved everything about the Inn: the room was very comfortable and cozy, the breakfasts were delicious (Nancy even wrapped up the delicious banana/zucchini bread that we didn't finish to take with us), the outside patio area was charming and the location is perfect. We were fifteen minutes from the CIA, FDR's Hyde Park estate, the Vanderbilt estate, some fun wineries, and right on the trail to the Walkway over the Hudson. We used the bikes that the Inn provided and rode to Poughkeepsie over the bridge.

This is the perfect retreat to use as a base for the Hudson Valley. Make sure you go into Rhinebeck and New Paltz!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1 and loved it, but I suspect all the rooms are just as lovely.

My wife and I visited this three-room inn in order to check out the "Walkway over the Hudson", a rail-trail that goes from Highland, NY to Poughkeepsie (the property provides direct access to the trail). The Inn was beautifully maintained and sumptuously appointed; breakfast was excellent, and our hostess, Nancy, was both amiable and professional, going "above and beyond" to make our stay a success. She found us an open restaurant for dinner on July 4, when it seemed every other place was closed.....and also found us an additional rail-trail for us to try (the very nice "Walkill", in nearby Gardiner/ New Paltz).

Room Tip: We stayed in #1 but I think all 3 rooms are probably first-rate.

Nancy, the innkeeper, was very accomodating. The inn was clean, cozy and comfortable. It is beautifully decorated; you can tell a lot of thought was put into the decor. The bed was like sleeping in warm nest of feathers. The bathroom looked newly renovated with modern amenities. Breakfast was delicious with yogurt parfaits, zucchini bread, jam and a breakfast quesadilla. Close to a lot of attractions like Walkway over the Hudson (the inn has bikes you can borrow), FDR's home, Tuthilltown distillery, Hyde Park Drive Inn and lots of restaurants. We didn't get to do everything we wanted, so we'll definitely be back here.

I had a great stay here with my wife. We were in the area for cycling and to watch the fireworks on the Walkway Over the Hudson - the inn is perfectly situated for both. As for the inn itself - everything was absolutely perfect. The house (and host) make you feel right at home. It is beautifully decorated with antiques and unique furniture and has all of the modern comforts you can ask for. Breakfast was awesome too. We'll be back.

Everything about this inn is just perfect. Every corner has a charming piece of furniture or object. The rooms are spacious and very attractive, clean and comfortable. The garden is a delightful retreat with lovely plantings and seating areas. The baked goods are incredible and the innkeepers are friendly but not intrusive.

Room Tip: all are nice

Our three member family had a wonderful time. Nancy was gracious and helpful with guiding us in the area. Breakfast was a special event each of the days. The Inn is picture perfect, the hostess is inviting, and we can't wait to come back.

My girlfriend and I, who are in our late 20's and early 30's, stayed in Room #2 on a Saturday night between visits to the Culinary Institute of America and the Mohonk Mountain House. We left blown away by how pitch-perfect every detail of this B&B was. From the relaxing atmosphere to the beautifully decorated house to the stunning spa-like bathroom we were delighted at every turn. We both felt immediately comfortable and right at home in the warm environment created by our host Nancy, who was an absolute pleasure to meet. One of the highlights was biking across the Walkway over the Hudson on a couple of shiny-new beach cruisers provided for guests. Amazingly, there's a path behind the house that leads directly to the trail and the Walkway - you won't even have to hazard the roads to enjoy an easy ride along the repurposed rail bed. We had a beautiful night's sleep after the day's activities and woke to a light and delicious breakfast out in the sunroom. Though we were saving our appetite for our trip to Mohonk, we both enjoyed the yogurt parfait and light and delicious scones, neither of which could have been better prepared. Nancy also offered a few breakfast entrees that we declined in favor of a big lunch later and that I'm sure would have been spot-on as well. Yes, it's located in a residential area, but believe me, you'll still feel worlds away and wake up feeling great. For the price of some of the chain hotels in Poughkeepsie, I just don't see how you can pass this up. A true 5-star stay. Oh, and for those coming in hotter/colder months, both the central A/C and heat worked great.

Room Tip: Try Room #2 - back of the house, and the bathroom is stunning
