Super 8 Highland NY
Ranked #2 of 5 Hotels in Highland

after being charged $90.00 for a room with a king bed, when we entered the floor had not been vacuumed, and after pulling down the bedspread, the bottom sheet had a big yellow stain on it, which was disgusting, and the sheet was very wrinkled as if it had already been slept on!! So, we called out at the desk, and the guy on duty brought us another sheet, which he gave to, us and we had to strip the bed down and put the sheet on ourselves. We travel quite a bit, and stay at hotels frequently, and we have NEVER had this kind of experience. When checking out in the morning, I complained about the price we paid, and asked for a reduction on our bill, and they "unwillingly" agreed to give us $10.00 off. Their continental breakfast was the cheapest we have ever seen. Very chincsy. We have paid less at other name hotels, and had a pool, a gym, and a very plentiful breakfast. This is our second experience with Super 8 in less than a month, and it for sure will be our last. We will never stay at super 8 again. By the way, the bed sucked, and their pillows have absolutly no substance to them. They are cheap as hell.

I was very disappointed in our hotel stay. We'd stayed here before about 6 years ago and back then it was very nice. Unfortunately, time has not been a friend to this Super 8! When we walked inside the lobby, we were greeted with the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. This smell is imbedded in EVERYTHING and in EVERY ROOM. Apparently they don't enforce their "no smoking" policy at all. If I hadn't have prepaid for the room, I would not have stayed! The hotel is in desperate need of reconditioning - paint, carpets, curtains, beds, towels, hardware, etc. The room did not seem clean at all, and I even found someone's comb lying next to the bed! And did I mention the cigarette smell?!! Breakfast was a huge disappointment. It was pretty much just dry cereal and toast, and the juice was watered down. There was no attempt to regularly clean up the breakfast area, and it just got nastier and nastier as more guests arrived (arrive early!). The only good we encountered was the front desk staff. Ryan and Charlie were very helpful and polite and did all they could to make us comfortable. Unfortunately for this hotel, it was a losing battle. I would NEVER stay here again unless the hotel takes desperate measures to become what it once was.

Room Tip: Ask to stay on the first floor. The reeking cigarette smell is not as bad as the second floor.

We stayed recently as a less expensive alternative to some of the hotels listed for a recent AKC even in LaGrangeville. Sorry to say we got in late and were not able to enjoy the room more because it was very nice, had a sofa and sitting area, king bed, etc. Yes the towels are not the fluffiest and the sheets are not the softest but it was clean (although the hallways smelled a little damp and smokey). If we need to stay in the area again I would definitely book again

Room Tip: See if they have an enhanced king room - very nice!

my husband and I usually go to super 8 motels because they have laundry facilities on the premises and breakfast in the morning. This particular super 8 also had free wifry and a computer to use in the lobby. The room was spacious, fresh coffee in the rooms.

Room Tip: they have handicap rooms with large bathrooms.

Stayed here one night for a short visit to Poughkeepsie. Typical standard Super8, clean, nice personnel, average breakfast.
Good connection with the highway.

The rooms here are clean, but definitely need updating. If you're looking for nothing more than a clean bed and bath for a night, then this is your place. Towels were a bit thin and rough, but clean. The staff are warm and friendly. The hotel is centrally located to many historic and nature attractions. Not bad, could've been worse.

A clean, modern hotel, perfectly located at the intersection of two major roads between the Shawangunk Mountains, the Walkway-Over-the-Hudson, and the many other attractions of the historic Hudson Valley, has no profitable reason to be kind to locals in dire straits. Other than word of mouth, that is. But when my husband and I were flooded out of our home for six weeks, the Super 8 in Highland was one of the biggest blessings we found. The manager, Jennifer, recognizing our moment of need, was so compassionate and went above and beyond to help us, giving us a lovely room, with windows looking out into the expanse of trees behind the hotel. The amenities are modern; the floors and bathroom are incredibly clean; there is adequate, well-lit parking, windows that open with screens, a quality a/c-heat-fan system, and adequate space for our many belongings. To add to the comforts, they have cable with HBO, free wi-fi (great quality too!), and a nice Continental breakfast. In comparison to other hotels on the same scale, the Super 8 in Highland is head and shoulders above all others. And they’re pet friendly. What a perfect Hudson Valley hotel to serve our many tourists to Ulster County. Jennifer is an amazing manager who provides excellent customer service and her leadership shows throughout the entire hotel. We are truly grateful to the staff at the Super 8 and will continue to recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Room Tip: Second floor on the side away from the road is perfectly peaceful & quiet. There are a few room...
