Went to NY on a Hurricane Sandy Medical Aid Deployment. My brother lives in NY and his favorite indian food is the Dosa so we went House of Dosa.

We were promptly seat (only good part of the service). My brother hadn't say down yet and one of the wait staff came over and asked "what is your order?" We told them we need to look at the menu first and he stormed off. For the next 30 mins we waited for someone to take our order. Finally after having to walk up to a staff member and give them our order, we again had to wait, 10 mins later we had drinks.

The food is delicious. The coconut chutney is amazing.

We finished our meal, and were asked if we were done we need to hurry so they can have the table for the next group. I mean honestly it felt like we were being hearded out. There is no respect for customers. There is not any common courtesy. It seems like all they are after is a quick turnaround.

On our return from Jones Beach, Wantagh, New York ; we were feeling hungry by 7 pm; and we were looking for a nice place to sit and take some food. We spotted this place on our I-phone and stepped in. There was a long queue waiting for the seats, and we had to book our name, only to get a chance after 25 minutes of waiting.

But this was worth. The 'Onion Rava Masala Dosa' we ordered was freshly prepared and was very tasty and filling. Looking to our age, we avoided Cheese Dosa, Butter dosa, Paneer Dosa, and the likes. We saw about 20 items of Appetizers, 4 types of soups and salads, 15 types of Dosas, 20 types of their Special items, 15 types Vegetable curries and about a dozen items of Desserts and beverages on their menu card. The prices were quite reasonable and comparable to any other good restaurant in New York.

One can go there for Lunch, Dinner and snack during the day and pay by credit card as well.

This place specializes in crispy-edged vegetarian dosas - a Southern Indian crepe with a potato-based filling with or without flavoring of your choice (i.e.: chetti, cheese, spinach, etc.). The downside to this place is that the menu descriptions don't help someone who doesn't already have a background in Indian food much (for example, "chetti pondicherry dosa" is described as "dosa with chetti". Yet, it's vegetarian so it's not exactly risky. Go with an open mind and you'll be surprised.

Best mango lassis!

Excellent dosas with prompt service and a wide variety of other dishes. If your in Hicksville and want Dosa's it certainly meets the bill. But if you a bit father east, then I prefer Mubai Express and if you're into other dishes - biryani's or curries, etc. Then I prefer New Chile & Curry. But, not to knock it down - it's certainly worth a visit.

All-Vegetarian Indian menu including a variety of tasty dosas (kind of a "knish on steroids" or "the crepe that ate Chicago" for the uninitated) at rock bottom prices. Been working our way through the menu here and the folks in the kitchen ain't disappointed us yet. The pondicherry dosas are killer and come with a cup of spicy vegetable soup that'll put some hair on your palms, and the coconut sambar relish really should be one of the 7 basic food groups all by itself. (And for you Star Trek fans out there, there's even a dosa that's shaped kinda like the cone from the episode "The Doomsday Machine", except it's filled with potatoes and you can escape from it without resorting to warp speed or photon torpedos). The thali lunch is a steal. Step away from the steak knife for a night.and dive in.
