“Great Stay and Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2010

My wife and I were on an Upstate NY driving vacation. Planned on staying in Utica but didn't find any motel that looked inviting. Saw the Herkimer Motel and Suites listed in one of those highway motel listing booklets. What a great stay and value. Clean, updated, quiet and a very friendly staff. Highly recommended (find the coupon).

The room was very clean and at a reasonable price for the area. Well located for the four towns in the Mohawk Valley. No restaurant directly in the motel but several good restaurants in the area. Clean indoor pool (I did not use). Helpful at the front desk though a bit cold to strangers, the staff seemed very distrusting to someone who is staying there. This is not the quietest of places to stay though.. most of rooms face the parking lot and a great deal of noise can be heard from your room. The beds are ok though a bit soft for my liking. I had to take a smoking room as the non-smoking rooms were all taken. They did their best to remove the smell but I had to settle for a pretty pungent odor, to their credit, they did advise me that the room was a smoking room in advance.

We absolutley loved this Motel. Our family (2 adults and 4 children) enjoyed the room. We had a 2 room suite that was just beautiful. It was modern clean and spacious, a large kitchen space and dining area. We were right in front of the pool. The Staff was so friendly and professional, everyone we encountered had a smile and something nice to say. My children were happy with the grounds and the free wi-fi. There was a computer, chess area and games in the lobby. It was close to the thruway and had many place to eat close by. We enjoyed the Diner in the middle of town. Great place to stay if you are mining. The town was enjoyable and friendly also with a Walmart and shopping close by. We love it s much we stayed an extra night. We just left and are already planning our next road trip to include The Herkimer Motel and Suites

We had one room with two beds and a tv and then another seperate bedroom with one bed and tv. Planty room with mini kitchen. It was great. Pool but it was closed but looked nice. Will be going back in August. Easy to get to. Not many choices in this town and happy we picked this one!

My significant other and I ended up staying at the Herkimer Motel after several horrible hours of driving on the Thruway during the late February '10 storm that New York saw. It was definitely a sight for sore eyes when we pulled into their parking lot at 4am.

The desk staff was extremely alert and attentive when we arrived, considering the time! He was able to get us a room for the night (the hotel was packed with travelers). He was extremely polite.

The room was beautiful...very well decorated. To be honest, I can't remember much about it other than it was blissful to be able to relax in the room after such horrible driving! The one weird thing about the entire room was that the light in the bathroom went from fan w/ light, to light, to fan, to red light. It reminded me of photography dark room lights. Why would that even exist in a hotel bathroom? It was a little too The Shining for me!

We only spent a few short hours there to sleep, so the only other things I have to say about it is that the shower was fairly intense. According to my boyfriend, he's never seen pressure like that before in a shower. Can't say that's a bad thing, though!

We were totally unprepared for what we were about to experience on our first stop in Herkimer. The beauty of the surrounding landscape gave us a little clue, and then the truly lovely lobby, beautifully painted and hung with really attractive paintings gave us a really nice feeling. Desk staff, not the usual, but caring, welcoming, warm, and prof. people further enhanced the experience. The room was one you might expect from a small boutique Hotel priced at 3 figures; charming, comfortable, well furnished and providing a little sense of home, but at motel rates. This has become a standard stop for us in our trip across NY state thruway. The only problem is a very average breakfast, but in an attractrive and clean setting. We now bring extras for our breakfasts as rooms have frig. and micro wave. We actually look forward to our stay here .

We've stayed at The Herkimer Motel and Suites 4 times in the last 4 years. The staff is always courteous and caring, using their best telephone manners at all times. The rooms are cleancleanclean and cozycozycozy. Effort is made by all staff members to exceed the expectations of the traveling public. There is a lovely lobby with a wonderful complementary Kureg coffee service, a breakfast room and a clean and thoughtfully laid-out work-out room. We've never been there in summer, so I can't comment on the pool. At the end of the day, the whole property gives a sense of casual care and employs the standard use of the GOLDEN RULE. Great take-off point for any destination!
One quick note...this property can be beautiful without the "frills"...it is just perfect.
