i was concerned that this wasn't going to be as good as it sounded, but it was better. the crew was friendly, the captain was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all kinds of questions, no matter how irrelevant, the boag was clean and comfortable, ths trip was great. i especially was awed by the experience of Lock 18 -wow! i wish i lived closer so i could do it again. thank you and kudos to the crew of this boat.

My son and I have done a few Erie Canal cruises and wanted to learn more about this bit of history. We were very impressed with this tour. The captain was like a walking history book and we learned so much about this portion of the canal as well as the surrounding area. The other staff were very nice and made this trip even better.

The only thing I would say is that with the motors going it is a little hard to hear the captain but if you more toward the front of the boat that help.

We took this cruise because of a Groupon and it was great! I'm originally from Syracuse,NY and never realized just how significant the Erie Canal was not only to our state but to our country. It takes almost two hours and is well worth it. Just going through the working lock is awesome! Captain Jerry Gertz is loaded with information about the canal and makes the trip alot of fun. He even lets the kids on board who want to, drive the boat for a bit. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone and especially if you are from New York state.

We booked the trip with a nice lady earlier that day.got on the boat,it wasnt full.so we expected to have a nice and peaceful cruise.Well.if the captain wasnt talking thru the speaker system, she would put in a cd,that would essentially tell us the same thing she just spent 30 minutes explaining to us.made us feel like we were in a very dry and boring history classroom.there wasnt a minute of quiet to be had.the lock was interesting, but everything was being talked to death.and then there were our fellow tourists, who thought the boatride was a photoshoot for the family(all 15 of them)that constantly would bump into you.and pose right in front of you.we were thouroghly annoyed by the time we got back to the dock.i know the cruise cant be responsible for other peoples behaviour, but we really did not enjoy it.
