“Wonderfully informative Erie Canal Cruise!”
Reviewed August 10, 2014

My wife and I totally enjoyed this amazing Erie Canal Cruise. The scenery was beautiful and the commentary was informative and educational. The captain actually took us through one of the locks and back! don't miss your opportunity to experience this. We definitely would recommend this.

“You'll always know your pal if you've ever navigated on the Erie Canal”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

Wonderful trip, better than expected. To begin with: friendly ticket personnel, followed by great store with mostly products made in New York-what a relief from not reading "Made in China", then boat personnel kept passengers informed and engaged. Good stories from the captain. Entertaining ride. We now have a better history of the Erie Canal. Very interesting especially if you are a history buff. Easy to find off the Thruway with other historical attractions nearby.
Disadvantage: get there early to get a seat outdoors or you will not get a good view especially when others stand on the bow and block your view from inside. Need to sell some snacks also on-board and could be another box for tips outside of vessel.

“Well Worth the Trip”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

We've been on other cruises down the Erie Canal, but I learned more on this sight-seeing cruise than on any other. Learned about the history of the Erie Canal, but also learned facts about the construction we'd never known before (for instance, who knew that Leonardo Da Vinci designed the lock gates in a V shape with the point facing the strongest current, so that the more pressure on the gates, the tighter the seal--and his design is still in use today!). Got the tickets on Groupon so saved a bundle, but wouldn't hesitate to pay full price after having been on the cruise once. It was a hot day, but the breeze off the water made it a delightful temperature. Our captain, obviously an experienced sailor, made everyone feel welcome (even an autistic teen who he had steering the boat, at one point!)--no question was too stupid to ask. So, if you haven't been, plan to go! You won't regret your decision.

Very enjoyable and informative trip even in the rain. Especially enjoyed going through the lock. Our captain was very informative and we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise.

This was a wonderful and learning experience of the Erie Canal form its beginning to its present day use. Best use of 90 minutes while on the tour.
