Description: At the Stonecat, it is our belief that food is life. We feel that what people eat is the biggest mark of their culture and a reflection of how they feel about life. We like life in Hector and enjoy waking people up to vibrant, fun food that is grown organically and sustainably. We celebrate the bounty of the Finger Lakes region and focus on regional, sustainable food purveyors and local wine, beer, and craft cocktails. Reservations are highly recommended. The daily special menu is longer than the permanent menu - and more interesting too. The view and seating is great.

I visited this cafe several times and planning to stop by again - the food is tasty and well prepared.

We stopped in for a late lunch while doing the wine tour/Finger Lakes thing -- so glad we did.

This is a gourmet place, and the quality and pricing matches that. If you want cheap, go to McDonalds - if you want quality, and to treat yourself, then come to the Stonecat. (sorry, just an earlier post focusing on the cost, instead of the value for the goods received bothered me)

We got there before 3PM -- that is important, because it appears as though they skinny the menu way down after 3 to save some of the ingredients for dinner.

Assuming you have access to the full menu, they have a lot of local sourced options that I think is pretty cool. Portions were full, and very richly flavored -- we left completely satisfied.

Thumbs up for the Stonecate Cafe!

Order the pulled pork entree. No A/C inside but try to eat outside with a great view of Seneca Lake, the seafood restaurant right in town was nothing special. Very disappointing.

We enjoyed a nice glass of wine, appetizer and salad. It was all great, but it is on the expensive side. Granted, the food is mostly organic and local, but when you are getting such great deals at the winery down the road it makes the price stand out. Try to get on the porch if you can, but inside is nice and dim in the evening. Although I wouldn't want to dress down too much, we saw everything in the way of clothing, so don't worry if you are in jeans and a nice shirt . . . you'll be fine!

This restaurant came highly recommended or we would have never set foot in this shack on the side of a very dark winding road in the Finger Lakes wine country. They pride themselves on being "farm to table" and this is all we kept hearing about this place. A lot was fresh but the odd combinations were so off the charts I cant figure out what "farm" in this area produced the majority of these ingredients. The dinner was average and this is better than I can say about anything else in this area.
The menu is extremely limited. Steak was decent...basically a cut of prime rib when we went with an unusual brown/gray sauce. Tandoori chicken marinated in yogurt was ok for one in our party, bone dry for the other. Salmon was so overcooked it was like sawdust. Some good ingredients, just need someone who knows how to cook them.
