“The Best Place on Long Island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

I just returned home from a trip to LI for a funeral and I must admit with the economy the way that it is, I wanted to save money and bid on a hotel (3.5 star) on Priceline and sadly got the Ramada in Holtsville.. (NASTY HOTEL.)... After staying there the two days that I already paid for and having a horrible experience, we switched over to the Residence Inn in Hauppauge were we normally stay when we come to Long Island.
Switching from the Ramada to the Residence was like going from sleeping in a horse stable to resorting at Disney World.
This property is immaculate, very clean.. The rooms are spacious with kitchens, microwaves, nice TV's, plenty of parking, security, and doors that actually work when you use your room key. The grounds are kept nice. Complimentary breakfast, and evening snacks.. Unlimited complimentary coffee and hot tea..
The Staff was amazing. very friendly and welcoming
I have always enjoyed staying at the Residence Inn in Hauppauge, but after having a horrific experience at the Ramada, I learned the phrase you hear "you get what you pay for" is VERY true !
This hotel is the BEST.. I highly recommend it and look forward to staying here again next time I come to LI

Room Tip: This hotel is perfect no matter where your room is located

We arrived after a very long car ride from the Midwest & were greeted by "hospitable & friendly" staff. Our one bedroom suite was better than we could have expected with a full kitchen & a pull out couch. The mattress on the sleeper sofa could have been better but what can one expect...Everything else was great...from the full breakfast in the morning, to the exercise facility, the pool, the entire staff (which was courteous & professional) as well as, the location...Our family was pleasantly surprised & would highly recommend it!

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite on the 1st floor which was perfect for our family!

I only stayed one night but it is as all the reviews have described. Great value, great service, right off 495. This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at when I was to tired to drive and had to pick a place...I will be back

Room Tip: Park as close to your room as possible, pet friendly and they have free breakfast.

The hotel room is just like the pictures. It has a kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Free Wi Fi and breakfast every morning. Very comfortable and close to everything while also been private. Just make sure that if you are not leaving your room early you have the "Do not disturb" sign up.... They come early and only knock for a second before they walk in....LOL!!
Would recommend and will stay there again =)

The woman working the front desk was very kind and went out of her way to be sure that we were happy. The rooms were what you expect for a Residence Inn. The only negative that we found was they do not offer a shuttle service. This we found to be very inconvenient.

The hotel is conveniently located near the highway but not on the highway so you can expect quieter rooms and environment. It is about 23 minutes from Fire Island and about 1.5 hours from Montauk, NY. We stayed Sat through Monday and enjoyed our stay. Our requests for extra towels, comforter was immediately looked into even though they were sold out for that Labor day weekend.

Everything was clean in the kitchen and we really needed the kitchen this time as we were cooking dinner on our own, it had the necessary utensils needed to eat and cook. We've been to a few places with kitchens that provided plates but no pots and pans, and knives. So no problems there. Everything we needed was there {except the grocery which we had brought with us :-)

Breakfast was great and certainly enough to fill you up. Everyone enjoyed the great breakfast selections each morning.Quality stuff was being served. On the Labor Day morning their GM {Dominick} was there interacting with guests and also helping the staff. First time ever I have seen a GM go out of the way {even carrying trash out, cleaning tables} to help the staff and make sure that everything runs smooth for b'fast. Really appreciate his hardwork and dedication towards his guests and his job.

The onlydrawback was we had to wait about 2 hours before the room was ready as we wanted to check in early. Not their fault though, they were already sold out and we were there before time due to change in plans. The bed was not as comfortable as I would have hoped, especially since this is a Marriott hotel. Overall a nice stay. Drawbacks were minor in comparison.

My family and I stayed here in March of 2012. We were supposed to go tubing in Pennsylvania but it rained for days so we surprised the kids with an overnight stay. When we arrived the general manager, (very friendly I think his name is Dominick), advised us that our room would be ready shortly and I had requested a quiet part of the building. I'm glad I did because there were lots of sports teams there and didn't want to be near them. The woman at the front desk, (I believe her name was Geraldine), was very friendly and told us that yes she was putting us in a quiet area. We had a studio suite-very large with a pull out sofa for the kids and a large kitchen. My husband and I were supposed to have a queen bed but it was a double at best so we had a hard time sleeping. Plus, the middle was sagging and we kept rolling into it so they definitely need to upgrade the bedding. Breakfast was ok, same sausage patties, waffles thing as we get in other Marriott's. They need to change the menu! We had the same food on the west coast in December and again in July in New York city. I know it's a free breakfast but it really needs a makeover. Other than that we enjoyed the very large heated pool but the hot tub was too hot we could barely go in it. This Marriott is definitely good for a day or two but it's in a business area so there is not much to do. Our only other slight issue is when we called down to the front desk at night to get bedding for the pull out sofa. The first time the man said he would bring it up so we waited about 30ms and called again. This time he said he was the only one there so we would have to come get it ourselves. Not a big deal, but I was annoyed that when I arrived there he was talking and laughing with another employee. I thought he was the only one there? Not sure if it was legitimate or just laziness.

Room Tip: If you're there for a long term stay there is a whole foods and mall (right next to each other...
