“An Amazing Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Hancock House this past weekend. We had a wedding in Deposit, NY and wanted to stay somewhere more on the way home for us. We were incredibly surprised by how clean, new, and up to date this hotel was. There is a nice bar on site that you can watch a game, get some food or drinks and the reservation comes with a hot complimentary sit down breakfast. The breakfast was in a great dining room and not a buffet which was surprising. The rooms were large, comfortable, and SUPER clean. I have done my fair share of traveling, and this may have been one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel is not huge so it has the charm of an Inn but with the privacy and expectations you'd get from a hotel. The staff all seemed very polite and helpful as well. We had a great relaxing experience here and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in this area.

We stayed at the Hancock House two nights. Overall, the hotel was clean, well kept, and suitable for our stay. Positives were the balcony overlooking the street with chairs and table, the bar with $1 happy hour, and the cleanliness. The misses included uncomfortable, hard beds, no in room wifi (as advertised) and shower water pressure lacking....pressure. From looking at other hotels in the village, the HH looks the nicest. The front desk staff seemed to be a little short on friendliness and a helpful attitude, especially since it appeared there might have been 10 percent of the rooms filled.

We would stay again, but with more realistic expectations.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street so you can take advantage of the balcony.

I went on Business to Deposit New York, very small town. I was told about the Hancock House Hotel by a co-worker so I thought instead of staying in Binghamton and having to drive each day I would try the Hancock House. I was pleasantly surprised! Very Clean, excellent cooked to order breakfast each morning ( so much better than a breakfast buffet at the chain restaurants.
I was missing a hair dryer and later found it in te closet, so maybe let the guests know that is where it is.
Wonderful experience!!

Great surprise for us when we stopped for the night on our way to NYC. Beautiful wood paneling on bedroom wall and nice wood furniture in the large room. The staff was very nice and we received vouchers for free full service breakfast. Even let my husband buy some beer the night we arrived at their bar which was closed. Very happy with our stay.

We were passing through this region and needed a place to stay for one night. The rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast came with the room, it was a high cholesterol set of choices but the breakfast room was big and airy and the service fine.

We stayed here last year and enjoyed the large, clean rooms. In between they remodeled the dining room and added an executive chef. Food was superb - everything from simple dinners around $10 to gourmet food. Spent the day playing golf at the very pretty French Woods golf course (40 mile views) then went back to the Hancock House late afternoon to watch a sports event on TV in their cozy bar called Honest Eddy's. We plan to spend another weekend here in the fall and will probably try trout fishing (the fly shop in the hotel lobby said they could organize a guide).

We were very fortunate to get a room there after leaving the Inn at Starlight Lake. I saw pictures of the Hotel online and tried to get a room for our entire stay in the area but they were all booked. We stayed there last night and it was wonderful. The cleanliness and the quality of the rooms are comparable to Marriott's and the Sheraton. The furnishings were very nice and I really liked how the rooms were decorated...the paint colors were soothing and non-hotel like. I loved the down comforters on the beds and the nice linens. I had a great night sleep and if I was in the area again it would be my top choice. It has a restaurant, a bar, and a fly shop.
