“Lovely food and lovely service”
Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

Was recommended to this restaurant by our hotel as it was only a short walk away.

Lovely food and lovely views of the bay/water.

Service was amazing and if ever back in the Hamptons will go back to Cowfish.

“Perfect Summer Spot”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

This is a really great place to hang out for a good bite to eat. The water views are stunning. You can dress nicely casual or even classed up a bit. All ages seem to be welcomed and embraced. We saw families with very young children playing at the on-site wooden pirate ship. We also saw couples on date nights and groups of people young and old enjoying themselves. We did not have reservations and still we enjoyed an amazing water-view seat with minimal wait. Even if we did have to wait, it would have been fine. There are many chairs and benches dispersed on the property so that you can grab a drink and enjoy the view. The food is yummy, the drinks are perfect, and the dessert is OMG.

“More like "Go fish"...”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

That famed Wendy's commercial with Clara asking "Where's the beef?" could be asked at Cowfish, except the question would be "Where's the FISH?"

Not a fish in sight, except in photos on the wall. Surprised? Yeah, just a bit. Cowfish in Hampton Bays, NY, seems more like a hamburger joint than much more. Here's our take on it:

Appetizers are very overpriced. The fried oysters tasted like fried flour, not oysters. The spicy shrimps were pasty for reasons we could not understand. You can't go wrong with chips and guacamole, right? Unless they give you so few chips you run out of them BEFORE the guac runs out.

We had two burgers, which were plump and juicy. My brother-in-law had half a chicken which was very plump and juicy. My sister-in-law had a French Dip (called Prime Rib Sandwich on the menu) which was served on a cheap piece of supermarket 'french' style bread.

And mom had the French Toast, which they served using the same awful supermarket 'french' styled loaf. Mom's not one to turn her nose up at anything, but she quietly pushed back her plate after just a few bites. She was right, it was tasteless glue covered in poor quality syrup with a maple flavor.

So, if you're planning a meal with fish in mind, there's one fish you should pass on...Cowfish in Hampton Bays.

Avoid.

“Great place”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

Discovered this place because of Restaurant week. A great find. Rustic setting, very inviting, water views from every corner of the restaurant. Has a neighborhood feel to it and extremely comfortable/inviting. I imagine it is a great spot to be in the summer. Upstairs bar/lounge is awesome with roof deck seating as well as indoor lounge. Service was top notch and waitress was super helpful with menu items. You rock Rita. The menu was great and the food was over the top. Flavors exploded in your mouth. Seer joy. PS - They have a great happy your 4-6:30 1/2 price drinks and $5 appetizers. A great deal when you just wanna chill out, drink, eat light. Definitely recommend eating in the restaurant after relaxing in the lounge. We will definitely be back

“This is our new favorite place - but maybe not in the summer!”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

This was our first time at Cowfish and we look forward to many, many more visits. But living here year-round we can avoid the summer when I'm sure it will be mobbed and they don't take reservations for less than 10!

The view is absolutely the best in all of the Hamptons including Montauk and EAst Hampton Point. The food is fantastic. They offer "cute salad sizes" for only $6 which helps with the price and the Caesar and iceberg wedge were terrific. I had the scallops with corn and jasmine rice and prosciutto and my husband had NOLA shrimp and I think we'll probably want the same thing on our next visit. We've both been to New Orleans many times and their NOLA shrimp was really authentically spiced.

The service was very friendly and the portions are right too. They serve brunch, lunch and have a happy hour too.
