On Octagonal structure is a fascinating thing to behold, and this inn was even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside.
The innkeepers, Deb and Mark were incredibly friendly and accomodating, and had excellent advice on wher eto eat and ride our bikes.
We could tell, after the first breakfast--all organic and quite plentiful, that the food Debbie cooked for us would enhance our performance on the road, and indeed, fueled by her incredible, healthy repast, we made our 50 miles !

We had a very nice stay and the host went out of their way to be hospitable. The grounds are nice but seem much un-kept. For the price I expected a nicer accommodation. There were very few extras, including soap and shampoo, so bring your own toiletries. No TV even on the premisses. The sheets were clean but very warn; the bed was comfortable enough. Breakfast on the first day was not what we were expecting, but the second day they gracefully took our request for a simpler meal and it was very good. If you request the "romance" package, be sure to request exactly when you want it to be presented, I was use to other B&B's that had that presented upon arrival, so we got the flowers (hand-picked wild flowers...insect included) in the room upon arrival and we got the bottle of wine at departure. They do try very hard so it is difficult to say anything bad, but it is not the higher end Bed and Breakfast experience we are use to. It was a bit more like visiting an old friend who gives you the best of what they have even if it isn't much....

We spent two nights at the lovely Black Sheep Inn. Deb and Marc are fantastic hosts. The breakfast was exceptional and the Inn itself very interesting and memorable. The building is newly renovated, keeping within its historic and architectural significance. It is very comfortable, spacious and truly feels like a home away from home. Owners are knowledgeable about the area and will make any necessary calls, provide coordination and assistance to ensure guests have a great visit. Every activity and restaurant they recommended was just perfect and exactly what we were looking for on our getaway. 5 Stars across the board-a total home run. We look forward to visiting again.

My wife and I can not say enough about the wonderful service and treatment we received during our stay in Hammondsport, NY at the Black Sheep Inn.

Owners Deb and Marc went out of their way to make our stay both entertaining and relaxing!

The breakfasts catered to my wife's special diet and the host's knowledge of the area was excellent.

We very much enjoyed our stay in July 2010, which included a marvelous dinner prepared by Debbie for our anniversary. Breakfasts were outstanding! Marc and Debbie were also extremely helpful with suggestions for our daytime activities and dinners out. My only regret is wishing we'd spent more time just 'hanging out' on the premises and enjoying the beautiful inn itself!

Great beds, great showers, amazing service and above all we were utterly impressed by the amount of heart and soul that Deb and Marc put into this place. Thank goodness they fell in love with this octagonal piece of New York's history and restored it.

Regarding eating in the area: We unfortunately could not find a restaurant in Hammondsport open after 8:30 pm on a Tuesday night ( I think this was still off-season) and we were hungry! Immediately Debbie offered to 'whip something up' , and served a truly delightful meal, w/o previous 'dinner for two' reservation. They did not seem to mind that we brought our own beers and snacks ...and even offered the use of the fridge in their reception area to keep the beers cold.

I highly recommend this B&B, wish we could have stayed longer. They were working on getting an on site yoga/ massage area set up, and my husband and I look forward to returning to see their progress.

The rooms were spacious and quiet with an eclectic decor that blended with the character of this architecturally unique home. Debbie and Marc go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Deb's breakfasts are both delicious and imaginative. The Black Sheep inn located on the sleepy side of a sleepy town is the perfect part of a relaxing weekend.
