“Great food and wine list, very friendly service”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

We went up to Hammondsport, called the "Coolest Small Town in America" and it is adorable. They have a varied menu and a flexible kitchen for special requests. They have a large collection of local wines, most available by the glass, which is unusual.

Helpful and friendly service round out our praise. Our meal here was the highlight of our trip to the Finger Lakes.

It's not fancy or pretentious or very "foodie." Just good food in a warm atmosphere and fair prices.

“Another great find”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We were traveling from the Berkshires and had gone to the Union Bistro for dinner the night before and decided to come back the next day to shop and see the town. The Village Tavern was recommended to us thru one of the wineries. We had a great lunch! The atmosphere is awesome and our waitress was really nice. I had the roasted beet salad that was absolutely to die for. I could of eaten another! My friend got the seafood chowder and we all tasted and it was yummy. My other friend got the house salad with the cucumber dill dressing and she liked it so much she bought 2 bottles for home. The drinks were good too, served in a pint glass. We tried for dessert, but were too full, but they have banana's foster and I bet it was wonderful.
We would most definetly dine here again when we visit wine country.

“Nice!”
Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

We stopped in here on a Sunday night. The front dining room was full, and the back dining room was filling up. It was a party of two, and we were seated in the small tables between the two dining rooms. There was another party of two right next to us, which made conversation difficult or distracting.

They offer an extensive wine list. It had to be 30 pages! We ordered local Pinot and local Riesling. They were a little slow in coming, but temperatures and glassware were correct. We ordered a hamburger and the lasagna. Both were excellent, and more than we could finish. Again, service was a little slow, but we were ok with that.

Prices were reasonable, wait staff very friendly and knowledgable. I asked about the item hanging over the bar. She knew what it was, and explained that it was still there from a previous renovation. She explained the owner has a very eclectic taste. I was impressed with her explanation and service. I would definitely reccomend this establishment to friends and family.

“Too much salt”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

I would give this establishment a higher review but the chicken marsala was waaaay too salty. The waitress, Nichole, was very friendly and attentive. Loud when the band is there but otherwise it's a place to check out.

“Cozy, comfortable, excellent.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

This little place is a real gem. The food is expertly prepared. The menu always has some suprise that shows the imagination and skilll of an excellent kitchen crew. The service is friendly and amazingly quick for as busy as the restaurant is. The selection of beer and wine is crazy big.
