“B&B 101”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

We recently stayed here for two nights and I must say it was about as perfect as you can get. Sam and Marianne could put on clinic on how to operate a B&B. Everything from the material communicated to us before we got there, to their warm and thorough greeting when we arrived, to the decor and comfort of the room and to the quality of the breakfasts was top notch. We felt very comfortable there. Of course it helps being located in the nice little community of Hammondsport on the southern tip of Keuka Lake surrounded by some quality wineries and stunning views.

We had a wonderful stay at Blushing Rose B&B. Their attention to detail was unmatched. When making the reservation, I'd mentioned we were celebrating my husband's birthday so they had a special in room goodie plate waiting for us when we arrived.

The place was exceptionally clean.

The location was great - turn left out their front door and you're about 500ft to downtown Hammondsport (rated by one travel mag as coolest small town in the U.S.). Turn right out their front door and you're about 500ft to Keuka Lake. Beautiful and makes for a nice morning stroll.

They also have a wonderful front porch to relax on.

The Blushing Rose catered to gluten-free allergies. We were travelling with another couple and she's celiac so has to eat gluten free. She was so happy we booked this place where she could eat all of the foods.

Breakfasts were two courses and wonderful. The first course was always a beautifully set out plate of fruit and then either an egg dish or french toast (gluten free of course). They offered just one breakfast serving - at 8:30 - which seemed a bit early for weekenders, but they were very accommodating if we arrived a few minutes late. It would be great if they offered breakfast during a time span of 8:30 to 9:30...but we understood that they wanted to get on with their day too.

Upon leaving, each couple received a 'bag for the road' that included 2 bottles of water, some sweets, a snack and napkins - SO nice! I've never stayed in a B&B that provides such wonderful touches like these!
Thanks for a wonderful weekend - We plan to be back.

We spent two nights at the Blushing Rose and it was probably one of the best B&B stays we have ever had. The location was perfect - walking distance to both the lake and the town square and an easy drive to wineries. Homemade cookies were waiting when we checked in and provided in a goody bag when we checked out. Breakfast both days was delicious as well as being healthy. The Blushing Rose is definitely worth a stay and we look forward to going back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Starlight but all rooms looked very nice.

We stayed at the blushing rose for two nights. The inn is just a very short walk to the lake in one direction and the town square in the other. Also the blushing rose is a short drive to wineries , museums and other finger lakes attractions. Inn keepers were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our breakfast each day.

We made a last ninute decision to visit Hammonsport while on a week-long getaway to the Finger Lakes for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were fortunate to find that this gem had a room available for us. Marianne and Sam are relatively new owners of the inn having spent many years searching for the right property, and it is apparent that they are absolutely relishing their new titles as "Innkeepers." They provided freshly baked organic cookies both in the evening and in the morning to take with us. Marianne was happy to give both my husband and I smaller portions of breakfast after we told her we'd be "overfed" at our the previous B&B but in hindsight, I should have asked for the full serving. Not because portions were too small (it was eggs benedict) but because it was scrumptious! Marianne is an excellent cook and takes pleasure in letting you know that her recipes are all organic and heart healthy - at least this is true about what we were served. My husband and I both athletic and careful about our diets (for the most part) so this was really comforting information.

We stayed in the Starlight room because we wanted a private ensuite bath. The room is large (as is the bathroom) and the bed was very comfortable - we both slept like babies. The property is just a short walk from the center of town in one direction, or the lake in the other direction. Although this was a last minute decision for us, we are both hoping to return to the Blushing Rose in the future. Thank you for your hospitality, Sam and Marianne!

My husband and I stayed one night at the Blushng Rose just to get away and go to a dinner theater nearby. Everything was wonderful! We loved it! It inspired us to go forward with opening our own bed and breakfast in Conesus.

This was maybe one of the busiest weekends of the summer (4th of July weekend), and yet our stay at the Blushing Rose B and B with Sam and Marianne was like a long weekend with personal friends or family. We were treated as if we were the only concern of the inn keepers. Our stay began with a personal tour of the house with a little of its history, and also some of our host and hostess's personal history. Our rooms were spotless, very beautifully decorated, large, and comfortable. There was also a game room for our use with things like chess, parcheesi, etc., and an old fashioned record player with LP's. We were shown where the coffee would be in the morning, where the cookies would be in the afternoon, and the procedures for getting in if we arrived back from somewhere late or at a time when the hosts woiuld be out. We were on the second floor, as were all 4 of the rooms at Blushing Rose. We had a refrigerator with a small freezer to share with the other guests which was more than big enough. Marianne and Sam had stocked it with bottles of water. In the same area as the refrigerator was also a table with several wine glasses, toiletries for our use, as well as an ironing board, iron, and hair drier. They really thought of everything. Breakfasts were superb. Marianne makes everything herself from scratch and uses local and organic products. The two breakfasts we had were an egg dish presented in a "bird's nest" of shoestring hash browns, maybe the size of a medium muffin, and stuffed pancakes. Both included breakfast meats, OJ, fresh fruit, and home made breads. We spent one evening out on the front porch in rattan chairs, and the other evening in the cosy living room. They encouraged us to enjoy all the areas of the house. There was also a pond in the yard with chairs near by which looked inviting but we didn't have a chance to enjoy that area. Marianne and Sam have the perfect balance between always being there to help with tips regarding places to go, and restaurants and wineries to visit but never being intrusive. They obviously love what they are doing and make their guests feel like family friends. We would go there again and would not hesitate to recommend it.
