“Our Stay at Blushing Rose B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

My husband and I stayed one night at the Blushng Rose just to get away and go to a dinner theater nearby. Everything was wonderful! We loved it! It inspired us to go forward with opening our own bed and breakfast in Conesus.

This was maybe one of the busiest weekends of the summer (4th of July weekend), and yet our stay at the Blushing Rose B and B with Sam and Marianne was like a long weekend with personal friends or family. We were treated as if we were the only concern of the inn keepers. Our stay began with a personal tour of the house with a little of its history, and also some of our host and hostess's personal history. Our rooms were spotless, very beautifully decorated, large, and comfortable. There was also a game room for our use with things like chess, parcheesi, etc., and an old fashioned record player with LP's. We were shown where the coffee would be in the morning, where the cookies would be in the afternoon, and the procedures for getting in if we arrived back from somewhere late or at a time when the hosts woiuld be out. We were on the second floor, as were all 4 of the rooms at Blushing Rose. We had a refrigerator with a small freezer to share with the other guests which was more than big enough. Marianne and Sam had stocked it with bottles of water. In the same area as the refrigerator was also a table with several wine glasses, toiletries for our use, as well as an ironing board, iron, and hair drier. They really thought of everything. Breakfasts were superb. Marianne makes everything herself from scratch and uses local and organic products. The two breakfasts we had were an egg dish presented in a "bird's nest" of shoestring hash browns, maybe the size of a medium muffin, and stuffed pancakes. Both included breakfast meats, OJ, fresh fruit, and home made breads. We spent one evening out on the front porch in rattan chairs, and the other evening in the cosy living room. They encouraged us to enjoy all the areas of the house. There was also a pond in the yard with chairs near by which looked inviting but we didn't have a chance to enjoy that area. Marianne and Sam have the perfect balance between always being there to help with tips regarding places to go, and restaurants and wineries to visit but never being intrusive. They obviously love what they are doing and make their guests feel like family friends. We would go there again and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Stayed two nights over the 4th of July weekend at the Blushing Rose. What a lovely experience. Our hosts, Sam and Marianne, are definitely cut out to do this, and seem to truly love their jobs. They take the time to make you feel extremely welcome in their lovely home.
They were very accommodating...Starting with the fact that they allowed us to stay only two nights over a busy holiday weekend. Their home is spotless and well appointed. Breakfasts were delicious! We had an enjoyable time chatting with other guests before heading out for our day...never feeling rushed. There were fresh baked cookies, and drinks available for snacking. The lake, shops, and restaurants were easily walkable from the B&B. What a lovely little town Hammondsport is. We even got to see fireworks over the lake! Our hosts were helpful with suggestions for restaurants, wineries, and special events. Always ready to help, but never intrusive in any way. We stayed in the Starlight Room which was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean, and very comfortable. The friends we were travelling with stayed in the Grapevine room which was equally as nice. These rooms were side by side, which made it easy for us to plan and coordinate our days. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. Warm welcomes, thoughtful parting snacks, and everything in between made our trip just perfect. Kudos to our hosts for a job well done.

Being a B&b owner myself, I have to say The Blushing Rose was awesome, everything was great, especially the gluten free baked goods, very important as I am gluten intolerant. Can't praise it enough and my husband & I will be back, Thanks Marianne & Sam

I recently stayed at The Blushing Rose with another couple and can't tell you how wonderful it was. Sam and Marianne couldn't be more accommodating. The food was incredible. There were homemade breads, delicious sauces, fresh fruit , meats and this scrumptious stuffed pancake. Our rooms were so clean and we were greeted with homemade cookies, nuts and chocolate. You can truly tell that they have found their niche and truly love being in the hospitality business.

Clean, friendly owners, old school charm and outstanding food. We stayed only one night, but plan to return later in the season. Short walk to the water and Town activities. If only life were this simple again. Very relaxing.

We were greeted with home-made cookies. That should say it all. The Grapevine room was large, bright with lots of room for unpacking. Sam and Marianne were very helpful and gave us suggestions for eating, walking, bicycling and visiting a winery with a view of the lake. Although our stay was too brief they would have helped with kayaking as well. Our breakfast (eggs benedict) was delicious and pretty much eliminated the need for a big lunch...AND they even packed us a travel bag for out trip home.
The location can't be beat. One minute walk to the lake to watch the sun go down and two minutes to the center of town for shops, bars and restaurants. The foyer is well stocked with travel information. We will certainly return.
