“Top Notch Rieslings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2010

All the staff here are polite and very helpful. The view of the lake is to die for and they have tables so you can pack a lunch. The wines are wonderful and the Rieslings are some of the best we had. Free tastings as well. Highly recommend to everyone no matter what varietal you prefer.

“Nice tasting, but wines just okay.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2009

I think their big, relatively new tasting building burned down not that long ago. The setting on the deck was great for the mid-week, probably overwhelmed in the summer on the weekend. With all the talk about Dr. Frank wines I expected a better quality. They may be resting on their prior success. Another post notes that the wine master has left the winery.
Pourer made it sound like they don't bother much with the Finger Lake judging going on, but I sense these wines wouldn't do all that well against the best Finger Lakes has to offer. However, it is still in the upper group. The only wine we tasted that I could recommend is the Pinot Noir which was quite good and the price has been reduced to $20. A nice free tasting, just don't expect too much from the wine.

“Our favorite winery!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2009

We arrived just as a bus tour was leaving thankfully! We had to wait about 5-10 minutes and gladly did so to escape the crowd that was leaving. Our wine pourer was friendly and knowledgeable. No fees for tasting and they encourage you to try wines not listed. Our favorites were the Pinot, the Lemberger (both dry reds) and the Gewurztraminer Reserve which was a surprising white delight! Our only warning - the prices are the highest we encountered (Our bottles were $24.95) but the wine certainly is the best we tried in the Finger Lakes.

“Top Notch Wine”

We like Dr Frank's and make it a regular stop whenever we do the Finger Lakes. Go during the week for lighter crowds.

“Very Friendly... Great Dry Wines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2009

We've been to Keuka Lake New York several times and use to love Dr. Franks wines, but i guess a couple years ago (06) their chief winemaker Morten Hallgren had left to open his own winery across the lake. We had to WAIT in an extensive line and the quality was not up to par of what we've had in the past, but still excellent for Euporean vinifera wines. Very friendly! (George is so funny) Still we buy the Cuvee d'Amour (very close to a Barolo) and also enjoy the Rkatsiteli for a light spicey white & their Sparklers. But for the Reserve Chardonnay, Meritage, CabFranc, and a better Gerwurztraminer we traveled over to Morten's RAVINES WINE CELLARS finding them helpful, informative (Dave has so much history and background) and with NO lines to wait in. We still LOVE both and these are the TWO wineries for the MUST VISIT & BUY. The funny thing is that they are working hand-in-hand as we asked 'where to stop next' and they recommended each other!
