this is a big, sprawling acreage which plays host to a Fair in August, about two weeks long, and numerous other events, notably big train shows in its "events center" in November and February.... once, fearing its own heritage, it changed its name to "America's Fair," but has finally decided Erie County wasn't that bad after all... but as Fair's go, it's pretty ordinary, with very little in the way of the home-cooked food which is the trademark of many Pennsylvania fairs... the kids are cute with their animals and such, but they've been about shuttled aside for the sake of commercialism... Fair? Only fair

I was a vendor at the bi-annual Train Show at the Hamburg Fairground. It's clean, modern with plenty of parking

The fair was good...enjoyed the variety of things to do there. Some shopping in the Antique Store was nice. What I did find disturbing was the birth of a dairy calf while there. Everyone loved it.. the mom was so happy but what they don't tell you is the calf will be taken away and she will be put back out on the line to milk. Loosing her baby and it will have a horrible future being a male. They had an auction of animals there. Some brought lots of money, some were sold for food. More food venders than you can imagine and some with us enjoyed the 3 story jump. Good rides for adrenalin junkies.

My Significant Other has been telling me about how terrific this event has been for the past 6 years. We decided to take it in this year and we will be returning every year. It's more than I could have imagined. Ok so there were Cattle, Pigs, Sheep, Goats..etc but there was so much more. It's too bad that in this country when we think about NY our mindset goes to New York City. I'm happy to report that the "other" NY is much more beautiful. There are rolling hills, Mountains, Farm Land and that's what this gathering is all about. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and you will be amazed at how big this event is. This year it was $7.00 to enter so its reasonably priced as were most of the eateries. You have to witness this to believe it. Highly Recommended.

In addition to the fair, the Fairgrounds host the Festival of Lights in winter. The cost is actually sort of pricey and there isn't too much to do for older kids (we went with 2 nine year olds and 1 eleven year old). It is the biggest one around though, so it wouldn't keep me from going again. But be ready to spend $$.
