Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm
Reviewed November 7, 2010

I love going to this place. I've been going there at least 4 times a year (once each season)for the last 3 years and I've never been disappointed. The hosts are wonderful. The breakfast is wonderful. The house is wonderful. This is a fantastic place and you will have an extraordinary experience. This is the coziest b&b I've ever been at with all the great seating arrangements and the fireplace (inside and you can make a fire outside by the water too). If you are lucky you may see Jim (the owner) do some magic tricks for you. Fascinating stuff.
Also, I recommend you go to Peeckamoose restaurant for dinner. It is close by and has great food.

This is my third year at Susan's Peasant Pheasant Farm. I've been there in every season and love it at anytime of the year. The place is our "little secret". You can't beat this place if you want to relax and stay out of the city stress... and for many other magic reasons that you should discover yourself. The location is great. The owners are super friendly with adults and kids. There are many things to do around the B&B. There's more then one skiing area 10 min away by car. If you like fly fishing, just ask the owners and they can put you on some of the world most famous waters with no need to move your car. If you like outdoor sports also you can bike, kayak, jog.
One more thing, their breakfast is amazing!

We have enjoyed visiting for years now. The hosts, Jim and Susan, are gracious and down to earth. We have become friends and consider them part of our extened family. The food is magnificent. The scenery is beautiful and sounds from the waterfall are tranquil. We look forward to going there a couple of times each year. Hiking, skiing, and other activities are nearby. Highly recommended!

We have been coming to this wonderful place for our annual getaway for a few years now. As usual, it was a heavenly experience. The setting is perfect- private lake with a romantic island in the center, original historical bridge nearby, all hidden from the main road in a charming little village. The house is updated throughout and still keeps some very special original elements. Susan's breakfast is gourmet, healthy, appetizing and bountiful. Jim is friendly and hospitable. This is our home away from home and we can't wait to visit again.

This place is such a gem! Jim & Susan are so friendly and accommodating. This B&B has wonderful lake views. The downstairs is large and spacious. The interior has lots of antiques, paintings and interesting collectibles through which keep you very occupied. There are plenty of board games available as well. Pre-breakfast chit chat with coffee and tea was held in front of a roaring fire. The breakfast itself was plentiful and unbelievably delicious. We were served a huge fruit plate consisting of pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes and kiwi. A basket of assorted breads, cheese platter and smoked salmon was our starter. The main course consisted of buckwheat, banana and almond pancakes and fresh smoke ham. The bedroom was very clean and comfy. This B&B is about 10 - 15 minutes from both Plattkill and Belleayre. Jim & Susan even made restaurant recommendations and reservations for us as well. Overall we had a simply smashing time and look forward to coming back over and over again!

Lovely setting on a lake with waterfall as described. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of foods hot and cold. We were the only ones staying that night as we are in between ski season and the summer season. They kindly had given us an upgrade to a waterfall room from the meadow room at no cost. We had booked one waterfall room and the meadow room and Jim had given us both waterfall rooms. There was plenty of knick-knack's around the house and great windows for bird watching and over looking the lake. Very quiet and pleasant town they were very helpful with everything we needed and recommended a very good restaurant and even made us reservations. All in all it was a good stay the only downside was the house is a bit tired, as the stairs are a little uneven, and some new paint was needed on the porch. I would still recommend to a friend or relative and would visit again myself.
