“Lovely, peaceful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2010

My husband and I (and our toddler) wanted to have a quick get-away from NYC for just one night. We called during the week and were told that they don't do one night reservations on weekends in advance, but to try again on Friday, and if a room was available they would give it to us for the Saturday night. We called Friday morning, and true to their word, we were able to reserve a room for Saturday night (as were our friends who decided to come with us.) They were incredibly nice on the phone, and were extremely helpful in deciding the room we should pick and how we'd be able to hang out on their porch after the baby went to bed, stating that they provided baby monitors!
The place is beautiful, right across from an inlet of Greenwood Lake. The town of Greenwood Lake is a very short drive, and we were able to go to lunch and get back quickly. We were in the Caldwell Suite which is on the first floor – there was a little bit of noise from the front door closing, but it probably wouldn’t bother most people – we only noticed because it may have woken up our toddler from his mid-day nap…we didn’t hear the door at night at all! The room was super clean, really spacious, nice bathroom – I loved the ‘green’ products they had in the bathroom! The room was also perfectly situated for us – close to the front door and porch, so we put the baby to bed and felt incredibly comfortable going the short distance to the porch with a baby monitor and sipping wine and playing cards with our friends, overlooking the lake…so peaceful!
The breakfast area was really nice, overlooking the porch and the lake. The food was good, not great – I didn’t love my pancakes, but the rest was okay. Overall, a lovely, peaceful stay.

Spent 4 days in New York and discovered this little corner of heaven just 20 minutes drive from Woodbury Common, the shoppers paradise. The Waterstone Inn is a delightful, tranquil and peaceful alternative to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Just what we needed to recharge our batteries before our journey home. The views, location and quality of the accommodation and friendly service was exceptional. Special thanks to the owners the Mulcahy Family.

We were amazed with this gem on Greenwood Lake. The Waterstone Inn is everything you could want in a B&B. The room was spotless. The room was very warm and inviting with a very modern bathroom. The Mulcahy family could not have been nicer or more professional. They were very friendly and made you feel more like family than a guest. We can not wait to go back for a weekend this winter. No matter what season you visit, you will have a great t

Holy crap, this place is great. I travel a ton, and I think this was the best lodging experience I've ever had in the United States.

I'm not even sure where to start. The place is accessible from NYC by public transit, the rooms are clean and beautiful and (usually) look out over the lake, and the innkeepers are friendly and helpful and interesting. The inn has kayaks and a canoe for guest use, and the food is wonderful. Treats in the afternoon, coffee anytime, and a killer breakfast. My girlfriend and I eat like truck drivers, and we were very, very happy puppies every morning.

Prices are surprisingly reasonable, too. It's probably only a matter of time before the Waterstone is 100% booked all the time, but if you're even thinking about it, get your butt up there before the rest of NYC figures it out.

Decided to stay at the waterstone inn after reading the great reviews on tripadvisor and it certainly lived up to its excellent reputation. The location is beautiful, right on the lake, and the inn has a large veranda to sit and enjoy the view. The accomodation was of the highest standard, comfortable and relaxing. The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious and with all the mod cons you would find in a top hotel. The staff were brilliant - warm, friendly and welcoming. They were always very helpful and we had great "cráic" (the Irish for humour/fun) with them. Breakfast was prepared fresh each morning and there was a variety of options to choose from, including daily specials, the corned beef was delicious. The food was fantastic. We particularly liked the special touch of the home made cookies left out for guests in the parlour. We also had access to tea/coffee making facilities, soft drinks and water in the guest kitchen. We were offered the use of a paddleboat and canoes to explore the lake. We had a lot of fun on the paddleboat, its a great way to see the area. The Mulcahy family really make you feel at home but in five star facilities. We will definitely return. Many thanks to the Mulcahy's for a great stay.

i would stay here again. the rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable and well thought out. there is a ceiling fan, air conditioner and jacuzzi tub!! the flat screen tv in the bedroom is also a nice touch. the bathroom has been stocked with green products and a convenient hair dryer. the hostess, miriam and her granddaughters really look after their guests. the refrigerator is well stocked with bottled water, there is a keurig coffee brewer for your convenience and popcorn by the microwave oven. the sunday new york times, post, daily new s and local paper were available when we got up on sunday. i especially liked kayaking in the lake and will try to come again when the foliage is changing. i know i am leaving other nice touches out but i think people should get the idea that this is a gem of a place. thanks, debbie and steve

My husband and I spent the weekend at the B&B during mid May. The Mulcahy family are truly wonderful people who made our stay very enjoyable and made sure our time at the B&B was memorable. The rooms are lovely and beautifully decorated. Quiet too. Our room overlooked the lake as does the outside deck. We enjoyed sitting outside and watching the wildlife, boaters and rowers. Tara was our innkeeper during this particular weekend, she said that she was not the Martha Steward of the family but her breakfasts were great and a nice selection was offerred. We plan on going back either in the Fall or Winter. Also checkup the Breezy Point Inn and the Emerald Restaurant. So with that said, thank you Denis, Miriam, Lisa, Sean, Maureen, and Tara we (I) enjoyed meeting everyone. We will see you soon!!!
