Cheery cafe, with omelets to die for. I had the omelet with mushrooms and shallots. It was perfect! The omelet itself was light and fluffy, the veggies were sauteed to perfection. I loved every last bite. The toast points were delish and buttery and the accompanying fruit salad was garden fresh.
The service itself was spot on, we were late while our friends were waiting for us, super late, and there was no making you wait for your entire party before you are seated, and our waitress was perfectly patient when we couldn't make up our minds. Always spot on with the coffee refills.

Try the Pig 'n' Fig and Pear Salad. You won't be dissappointed. Tuna Melt also delicious. Service didn't do justice to the food though. Waitresses were pretty miserable and were not very quick off the mark.

Like Erik's on the North Road and Jeni's on the Main Road in Southold, Bruce & Son (as Bruce's Cheese Emporium is now called) in Greenport is a gem hidden in plain sight. Unless one of the locals tells you about it, or you're just lucky enough to give it a try, you're liable to pass it right by.
Don't. This is wonderful, fresh, real food, good at any meal but just extraordinary for breakfast/brunch. Best eggs Benedict ever.

Look no further than the Pig 'n Fig. Even if you're not a fan of prosciutto, or fig paste, I can't imagine someone not enjoying this delicious sandwich. It is one of the best I can think of! The perfect balance of sweet, salty and savory. This is certainly on my list of droolworthy Northfork delicacies, trust me, you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to have one again when the craving strikes... and it will!

I know this restaurant/cheese shop as Bruce & Son. Whatever you want to call it, make it a port of call when you visit this maritime-inflected town on the North Fork. The meals are filling and fresh-looking in their presentation; the drinks hit the spot on a hot day, and if you choose to dine outside, make sure that you are in the shade since the sun beats down, seemingly right down onto this restaurant. The inside has that charming, historic look, with wainscoting on the walls, old black and white photos and maritime maps of Greenport, an old-fashioned display case, and oodles of cheeses that you can taste before you decide which one to take home with you. You can't miss this place, it's smack dab at the end of Main Street. And, you won't WANT to miss it!
