We spent two nights here in a very comfortable front room with views of the harbor and Shelter Island. Clay is very accommodating and serves a delicious breakfast and he did not forget our gluten free requirements. The Inn is a bit pricey but it was worth it. Go to Noah's for dinner. A 10 minute stroll and excellent food.

Room Tip: Pick the front room. The Shelter Island room

My wife and I live on Long Island and visited the Sterling House on a B&B tour. We stayed there for a W/E on May 3, 2013. The host, Clay was most hospitable and a great cook. His breakfast was fantastic. He was very pleasant and it was obvious that he loves people and making them comfortable. We stayed in the Shelter Island room, which had an ocean view of Shelter Island. The porch and breakfast room were very cozy and all of the rooms were super clean and comfortable as stated by the other guests at breakfast. We plan on visiting the Sterling House again.

My wife and I went out to Greenport for our first time, and stayed at Stirling House where Clay is the consummate host. This was our first stay at a B&B. The room we stayed in was a great size, clean and had views of Shelter Island. The front porch is a perfect place to read a book and have a morning cup of coffee, before starting your day and letting the amazing breakfast that Clay cooks for you digest. After leaving we decided to try and make an annual trip out to GPort and enjoy all Stirling House has to offer. Definitely two Thumbs up for Clay at Stirling House.

This was my first B&B.... I was a little skeptical at first.. We were given this weekend as a gift from our daughter and new son-in- law..we had an awesome time... The Stirling house was cozy, comfortable, clean and charming...the owner and amazing chef Clay was wonderful .... His breakfasts were beyond delicious...our room was comfortable, nicely decorated..very clean ,like being at home.....each room had a private bath...a big plus.... We took the vine wine tour... Must !!! A lot of fun... I would do this again....and again....:)

Room Tip: We had a water view...I don't know what the other rooms were like..

This is our second stay at Stirling House. Clay is the consummate host. Rooms are beautifully decorated; very quiet location right on the water, one block from Main Street. Clay's culinary skills are remarkable. This morning we were greeted with baked pears, mascarpone, strawberries and whipped cream - followed by "vertical" eggs, home fries with herbs and a magnificent croissant. Yesterday afternoon we sat on the lawn enjoying a peach tart and the beautiful view. Clay's recommendations for wineries and restaurants are spot on. Highly, highly recommend.

Room Tip: We've stayed in two of the three rooms. Both the upstairs room with the king bed and the French Suite, on the first floor, have lovely water views. Can't choose a favorite.
