I had to find a hotel room on Long Island, the week after hurricane Sandy, and after trying all the chain hotels, this was the only one I could find any vacancy in. It was over an hour from where I needed to be the next day, but if I were on a vacation to eastern Long Island, the location would be perfect. I booked a Monday and Tuesday night, but only needed it for the first night (no refunds booking online, but that's CLEARLY stated on the online booking page - for those morons complaining about late cancellations with no refund). I didn't mind forfeiting the second night, because the room was only $119/night, which is very cheap for eastern Long Island (or Western Long Island). The room is a bit spartan, but comparable to a well-maintained Fairfield Inn or Red Roof Inn - only with IKEA furniture (including a very comfortable bed with pristine linens and comforter). The heating/AC register worked great, and the bathroom had its own ceiling heater. I didn't see any bugs, as some reviews mention, but it was early November and cold, so there would have been any around anyway. I didn't try the hotel restaurant or breakfast, but there are a few restaurants a short walk down the road (I had a good steak at a restaurant/tavern a few doors down).
