This was the 3rd visit to ELIK and like other visits this was a delight and a joy. The fee is pricey but worth it! The staff greeted us with a welcoming smile and were most helpful and pleasant. Our spacious campsite was beautifully groomed and clean with a table and a burning pit. We were guided to our site and the staff waited to see that we had all we needed before going on his way. The store, pool and rec hall were well managed. The bath houses were well lighted and very clean as was the total campground. If you would like a camping experience where you feel safe and your children can play and enjoy different activities this is the place for you! And a bonus is you can ride your bike or take a taxi a short distance to wonderful shops and stores and waterfront activities.

Room Tip: Call ahead and make reservations.

We camped for a week at the ELIKG this past summer with our RV as we have for the past several summers. The camping fees are high - $65/night (which is very high for camping sites) but we pay this for the accommodations - children activities, swimming pool, garbage pick up, etc. Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing.
Upon our arrival to our site - it was dirty and un-mowed. There was dog feces in the grass. Our lot was infested with ants. The pool was closed due to some pump problem which was not fixed the entire time we stayed. When inquiring when the pool would be available - the staff was rude and unhelpful. A discount was not offered. We will not return.

Great place/setting and staff for a family camping trip. From tents to Motorhomes they offer room for everyone. Hope place is set up like a nice secluded community for kids and adults to relax worry free. Great event weekends and daily activities. The area offers so much to do or not to do. Definitely recommend. Check out the weekend in Sept. when the tall ships come into the harbor.

I have been coming to this campground for more than ten years, however, recently it has gone down hill. As others have stated quite a few of the sites have been divided into two sites. Some are so small RVs are not able to open their canopies. The men's restrooms are relatively clean, but while we were there the ladies room was not. The ladies in my group had to request several times for certain things to be taken care of in one. Most of the staff is more then friendly and accommodating but the owner himself (Myron) would be better off if he just stayed home and collected the money. NEVER a smile on his face. Granted running a campground is a thankless job but come on if you don't like it hire a full time manager or sell the place. There was beach access directly across the street but the land has been sold and you are not permitted to enter. While this is no fault of the campground it is important to note that the closest beach is now 3 miles away. I'm not sure of any fees on this beach during the season as we only go in the fall. The speed limit is a good idea (5 MPH) and is the norm at many campgrounds. The problem is their own fire truck rides go much faster than that kicking up a cloud of dust that covers everything on your site. The time we were there the first truck, there are two plus a tractor pulling a trailer, needed to stop quickly. The second truck was following close behind and had to swerve off the road and onto a campsite. Fortunately this campsite was empty at the time. If there had been campers or a vehicle parked it that site it certainly would have had serious consequences. Sadly, this is only one of two campgrounds in the area. the other, McCanns, is even less appealing.

Camped here in a tent while doing some local cycling on the North Fork. It was a great an convenient home-base for us. Staff was friendly when we arrived (including the resident chocolate lab, Max) and they let us follow them down to our campsite (we'd never been there before so this helped). Restrooms and showers were clean and had plenty of free hot water - although some aspects could use a little tweaking- cleaning out the fan vents in ceilings and make sure restroom outside door closes so bugs/crickets can't get in. Work sink was available outside the bathhouse for dish washing. I have read reviews of this campground stating the owners are rude and yell about everything - including speeding in the park. I don't think they were rude - I think they were a bit abrupt (depending on who you got on the phone) but in person I felt that if we were kind to them they were kind to us. They clearly explained the 5 MPH speed limit to us. And it makes sense. There were a ton of little kids riding their bikes around and if you're going 30 MPH you may not be able to stop in time. The owners are very concerned about the safety of their campers - this is more than reasonable. And if you don't feel like you can follow their rules you should consider camping elsewhere. The rules are clearly outlined ahead of time. So overall we had a great time and would return. We respected the rules and had no trouble as a result.

This is our first time at the camp ground and before I chose to go I read all the reviews. They were confusing and contradictory. I felt good about going after listening to a friend who goes every year with his family and raves about the experience. My experience was similar to his. My kids loved being able to be free to enjoy life and camping as it was meant to be. The camp ground was clean, immaculate and safe. They had a great time enjoying the activities as they were children centered. I enjoyed the staff and admenities. They enjoyed the friends they made and the freedom. Advice - bring their bikes as we did.
