“Used to be a Holiday Inn ... still just as nice ...”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We were going to New York for a family wedding in Ithaca, and took the opportunity to do some sight seeing, at Niagara Falls going up and at Gettysburg, PA, on the way back to Tennessee ... we had some Holiday Inn loyalty points and looked for a hotel near the falls where we could use them ... because of the number of points we had, our room at this hotel were going to lower our cost for the room to $40 for the night we were to stay ...

The week we booked the room, Holiday Inn sold the property and the new owners were great ... they honored our agreement with Holiday Inn, and provided us with a great room! Clean, comfortable and generally quiet ...

Because of that treatment alone, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, all the time ...

The ONLY drawback we found (and it could have been a result of redecorating - not enough to change our minds) was that (particularly on the ground floor) security lights on the patios outside the rooms stayed on until 11pm, which is understandable, but the drapes in the room were sheers and there was no way to block the light, were one going to sleep before 11pm ... I'm sure that will be corrected ...

We attended a wedding at the Golf Club nearby and decided to stay overnight at what was once a Holiday Inn (in spite of the reviews) since we had heard new owners purchased last October and had placed a great deal of money into renovations. I wish we had listened to the reviews. They are accurate. What a dump. Just another in a long line of new owners this once lovely hotel has had that talk a good game and do not deliver. The room was musty. The hallways were hot and smelled foul. The front desk staff was exceptionally rude, and the linens were worn, and to top it off, there was no manager on duty to discuss these issues with. (And where they get off having "spa" as part of the name is beyond me......there is NO spa!!) We feel completely ripped off. It is no wonder that this hotel only ranks 2 of 6 here on this site for this small island community, especially when the other five are courtyard mom and pop motels. We do NOT recommend. Stay at one of the motels nearby, you will be happier.

The service was terrible and the rooms were stained and had a foul order. I had to pay extra to have a coffee pot and extra for a microwave. You have to pay extra for breakfast that looks like any other FREE continental breakfast. Over priced for restaurant and food was average at best. Worst stay ever.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The property itself is beautiful- backs onto the river with an outdoor pool, gazebo, docks, and a few picnic tables.

Check in was smooth but as soon as we entered our room we were hit by a foul odour! Not exactly sure what the smell was but very musty (spoke with another guest in the elevator and she also said her room had a smell that she described as wet carpet- like they had just steam cleaned). Bathroom door did not stay closed and the vent/fan did not work. There were some stains on the wall and the curtains.
We were told at check in that they were in the process of updating/renovating and that if we required ice there was a machine on the 6th floor or we could get it from the front desk.

We were in a room in the back of hotel so we had a great view off the small balcony- which was nice to sit on in the evening.

Overall, it was fine for what we were there for, but would not likely stay again for the price we paid.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the river

This hotel wasn't too bad. The price was very good and the location, just a short drive to the Falls was good. The hotel/resort had a lot of amenities for a family. I especially enjoyed the fitness room, one of the better appointments of the several hotels I've been to on my summer road trip. No major complaints here.

We stayed as part of tour group and were told breakfast is payable at 10$ pp which seems reasonable but when we saw the way it was presented on the table we were let down, dishes straight from diswasher and in the diswasher tray and napkins kept by fellow guest for us to wipe it, cereals in plastic 'to go serving', no hot or warm milk and they refused to give warm milk citing federal law, which applies only to milk!!!

This was the silliest excuse I have ever heard where they could keep hot coffee, water but not milk. In summary, a disappointing breakfast experience. Please avoid.
