“Very nice KOA!”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Camped for the week and had a very nice time. Convenient place to stay that is close to Falls and border. We loved the patio sites complete with outdoor table/chairs and grill. Restrooms were clean. There is a supermarket close by if you need it. Kids will like the amusement water park that runs next to the campground, you wait for the train at the gate right in the KOA. You can get a two day admission right in KOA office, at discount.

We have missed feelings about this campground. The location worked fine for visiting Niagara Falls but other than that, the immediate area around the campground offers nothing within walking distance. Public bus service to Niagara was very convenient, with a stop for Bus 40 directly across the street. It was a $2, 20 minute bus ride to the falls departing every 30 minutes. Coming home in the evening though, the service slips to every 90 minutes so beware and research your return times.

There is a wide variety of sites here from concrete patios with patio furniture and gas grills all the way down to grass sites without utilities. Some sites would be very conducive to satellite while others are not. There is no cable TV. The electrical utility was fine for our stay. The water was poorly done. There was a very wobbly water pipe coming out of the ground, not supported by a wood post or anything. It was a challenge to thread the hose while trying to keep the water pipe from moving. Water pressure was adequate. Our site was reasonably level but did require 1 block under two different tires. The site itself needed more rock and was not well maintained - lots of weeds growing up through the rocks.

There was two difference pools, and a good variety of kids amenities and activities. The west restrooms had no working air conditioning which was very unpleasant during 90 degree days.

You'd hope to get much more for your money here, but we understand that this is New York and Niagara Falls so the cost is what it is. We were satisfied with our stay, but we'd research other options if we came back. We may end up back here - it was definitely adequate. But we'd also investigate the other options that may exist.

Room Tip: Sites in the upper / west section of the park have the best chance for satellite reception.

We spent two weeks at this KOA in a motorhome with slide-outs. Our site was actually considered a back-in, but the KOA staff had us pull through a small grassy area into the site. Our campsite had plenty of room for the slideouts and patio awning, and was long enough to park our car in front of the coach. Most of the sites around us looked like they would be easy in/easy out, too. Overall, this was a very good place to stay. The location on Grand Island is great. It's next door to the Fantasy Island amusement park, and it's very easy to get on I-90. The drive is only a few minutes to any of the attractions around Niagara Falls and Buffalo, and to the Rainbow and Lewiston bridges. (We didn't cross the border at any of the other bridges.)

We had a full schedule with other activities so we didn't use the park amenities, but there are two nice pools and two fishing ponds. You can rent paddle boats on one of the ponds. This KOA also rents reclining bikes in all sizes and they appeared very popular. We didn't use any of the restrooms, but we did use the dryers in the laundry area and they were fine.

The only minor downsides are: (1) there is a $1 toll on the bridges to the island, but you pay only when you enter the island, not when you leave; (2) if you are in a site at the back of the park near I-90, there might be some road noise; (3) if you are in a site at the side of the park near Fantasy Island, the amusement park is open fairly late and noise might be an issue. We had no problems with noise at our site.

We are a family that has stayed at KOA's whenever possible. We have always had great experiences until now. The bathrooms at this KOA were extremely dirty. Dirty tissue and garbage were in 3 of the 4 sinks. Hair was all over the floor in the bathroom stalls and showers. Obviously it had not been cleaned in days. Also the a/c didn't work in the bathroom which made the smell a lot worse. Garbage was all over this campground. We stayed in a cabin by the "fishing pond" and there was garbage all along the shore. The poolside patio also had garbage everywhere. Quiet hours were posted from 10-8. The manager eventually kicked out our neighbors at midnight and we managed to get a few hours of sleep. We had traveled 10 hours to this KOA and planned on spending the next day at Niagara Falls and spending a second night here. Needless to say, we canceled our second night's reservation.

Shaded campsites are limited, bathrooms and showers were very clean, and the pool and play area for the kids was nice. There is an amusement park next door so you continuously hear the roller coasters and riders screaming, but you do get used to it very quickly. We spent most of our time at NiagaraFfalls, so the lack of shade really wasn't an issue.

We stayed in a cabin last July(2011) with our puppy dog. He loved it. The campground was awesome it even had a nice pool. We are so glad we stayed here. Wish other places were as pet friendly as this place was.
The only problem was that we stayed in a cabin right by the fence to the amusement park. 1 night during our stay the park was open late. It was very hard to sleep with all of the noise.

Room Tip: Book a cabin away from the amusement park.

This was our very first time camping and we had a blast. The campground was not really big so you didn't have to worry about how far away you were from the bathroom and it seemed to be well run. We didn't partake in many of the activities - my husband and daughter went for the pancake breakfast while my other other daughter and I roasted hot dogs. We spent our time at the falls and came back to sleep and and get cleaned up. For our needs, this was perfect. Every question we had was answered quickly by the staff at the campground.
We set up our tent on our site and then we headed out for the Falls. When setting up our site, we noticed that the asphalt of the road extends into the grassy area so we weren't able to put our tent spikes in very well in certain areas. It wasn't an issue becuase we didn't have a windy time and our tent was pretty well secured in the back and on the sides. I thought that the water/electricity hook up was kind of weird, too since they both stem out of the same wood piece on the campsite. The campground wasn't crowded so I used the water on another site to wash my hands off. SInce we didn't spend much time here, it wasn't an issue.
My biggest surprise was how clean the bathroom was. I was worried about it since I have never stayed at a KOA but I was very pleasantly surprised. The shower stall and dressing area is a bit small so for me (I'm a bigger girl) I felt a little claustrophobic getting dressed. There is a little "seat" in the dressing area that I could have done without. If that wasn't there, I think the room would have been a little better.
I would definitely stay there again. The location was great for our needs, it was clean and the staff was very friendly.
