“Nice and close to the airport”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

We stayed here by chance because we got snowed in at Heathrow. We were lucky they had rooms available as we would have been stuck sleeping on the floor at the airport with THOUSANDS of other people. It was a decent sized room and was nice and clean. We ate dinner in the restaurant and it had a beautiful view of the River Thames with the snow all over everything outside - it was quite picturesque. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel because we weren't expecting much from it. We caught a bus from the airport and it was very easy to find, a 2 minute walk to the right of where the bus drops you off.

Not one to normally leave reviews or feedback on here, but our stay merited this review.

We originally booked the stay through Thorpe Park as part of a package deal. We were offered a number of options, but as it was our first wedding anniversary and this hotel was located on the river we opted for it without reading the reviews and extremely happy with how it turned out.

We spent a rather soggy day at Thorpe Park before arriving at the hotel in the early evening ready to check in. We were met by a friendly gentleman who assisted us with our check in, he asked us how our day had been and offered us further assistance with our luggage before directing us to our room.

We had contacted the hotel prior to arrival confirming that we were celebrating our anniversary and to query the parking facilities, happy to report that we managed to park in the hotel car park free of charge with no problem at all and the room was a pleasant surprise.

We stayed in the 'Robert De Vere' room, which was a very spacious room with a large bathroom and a balcony overlooking the Thames, nice surprise and helped to rescue what had been a disappointing day at Thorpe Park. The bed was comfy and considering the hotel is located so close to the railway and Heathrow flight path we experienced a great night’s sleep.

The buffet breakfast was also extremely enjoyable. You had a choice of cereals, yoghurt, pastry and cooked breakfast, the latter topped up with freshly hot cooked food throughout the morning. A great stay and we would definitely return again in the future, we may just visit Thorpe Park in the week rather than a busy weekend.

Room Tip: Robert De Vere room is possibly the best room at the hotel and comes with a balcony overlooking the...

A typical English-style hotel, but combining quiet and centrally-located rooms, spacious, very clean rooms and excellent service. Ideally located next to Thames, in Staines, near Egham and the Royal Holloway University of London (where is was working), it provides easy access to both RHUL and the city centre of London (direct access to London Waterloo with no train changes). The city provides several options for food, drink and shopping and the picturesque, rear garden of the hotel (if the weather is nice) can really make a romantic evening (with the company of 'home-made' mojitos).
The price was really competitive, the rooms daily cleaned, free wifi all over the hotel area, and reasonable prices for everything from the bar (food and drinks).
Overall: highly recommended.

We stayed here for a mini family reunion, we used it as a base to get to Windsor. The hotels location is on a very busy main road (which you don't get the sense of in the photos!) so it really is a lucky draw as to whether your room has a river view or a road view! We had a road view so was quite noisy and we were essentially in the basement of the hotel! However the room we got was a brilliant size, clean and cosy. Other members of our party weren't so lucky and had tiny rooms and the road view (still clean and tidy). The decor is nice in the hotel all though why they thought painting the wall the same colour as plaster I have I no idea. In the 'basement' rooms it made it particularly eerie and dark.

The main bar and eating areas are nice and airy and bright. The view over the water at the rear of the hotel is also really nice.

We parked easily in the provided carpark, staff were friendly enough and for what we paid we can't complain. If you are going to stay here I would ask for a river view when booking or on arrival as it could make the difference between a pleasant surprise and a noisy night of traffic!

Had a excellent stay at the hotel. Our room was lovely and clean and spacious, the bed was lovely and comfy, the room had a decent sized flat screen tv , couch and table for you to sit and have a drink at. There was also a mini fridge for you to store your own drinks in, iron and ironing board, trouser presser, tea and coffee fertilities and a phone. The Hotel itself is lovely and was better than I expected from some of the reviews I read off here. The staff were friendly and helped whenever you needed it.We was on the ground floor and there was a wedding party going on and we never heard a thing. The hotel is in the perfect area its close to the shopping centre, restaurants, big tescos, vue cinema (£9.80 each, quite expensive) and is only a short drive to Thorpe park. The only downfall we found was the bar was quite limited with drinks and there was no cocktails or alcopops there was mainly beer ,wine , cider and spirits and the drinks were quite expensive.(£4.50 for a bottle of cider, £4.00 a pint of lager.) Also parking spaces were a bit of a problem because there was only about 30 spaces and they were full just like that so we ended up parking next door at the public park car park which we had to pay for and if you left the car over night you had to be back there for 8am to put another ticket on. However, I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will be returning within a few months as its the perfect hotel for a nice get away. WELL DONE.

Room Tip: If you want a bit of privacy ask for a room that's not connecting to another one. Also some room...

Enjoyed Saturday night here. Lovely room. Very comfortable. And the breakfast was excellent, all freshly cooked, and items were topped up regularly. Coffee took a while to get, but no problem they were busy. I was a little concerned that we may get disturbed during the night as there was a wedding reception on. The dining room looked lovely, hope the bride and groom had a lovely day. We were not disturbed at all, and I slept very well, best I have done for ages. Will certainly come again, when I visit my mum nearby. Location very nice, nice view overlooking river watching the boat racing. Downside, is that one of the reception staff on arrival was very grumpy and off putting.

Room Tip: We had a twin room, and my only picky point, is that, why are the beds always so close together, if...
