“Had a blast!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

My fiancé surprised me with a ballooning experience for my birthday and after a couple of reschedules, (due to inclement weather), we finally got to experience a hot air balloon ride! The people of Sunkiss Ballooning were friendly, experienced, and provided a genuinely unique experience! Would completely recommend to others!

“Fun Time”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

I did the sunset flight with my 14 and 12 year old grandsons. We loved the experience - it is very serene up there just floating above the fields and trees. Our pilot Mike did an excellent job keeping us informed of what was going on. We had perfect weather and a wonderful experience - I would recommend this for everyone. Sue (7/10/14 sunset flight)

“Amazing time, great staff, I want to go again!!!”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

Our experience was fantastic! The staff were so friendly, and answered every question no matter how silly it was. The balloon ride was so peaceful and beautiful. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I can't believe the negative review posted above. I had the complete opposite experience. It just proves that you can't please everyone. We went as a family of 4 people and we'd all give a 5 star rating.

Thank you Todd, Dar and the White brothers for making it a wonderful, memorable experience!

“Great first-time ballooning experience!”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

We really enjoyed our sunrise balloon ride! The team was friendly and efficient; we appreciated hearing about how the balloon works and the opportunity to help during set-up and landing. It is a very peaceful experience up in the air, with good views. Very nice pastries and champagne toast after the ride. Thanks, SunKiss!

“Fun but didn't meet most of our expectations”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

First, with the positives - This did check-off a long-time desire / bucket list item
It was a mostly positive experience with my wife.

Where they fell short:

They cancelled the flight two times after traveling five hours to make the flight!?
They never flew above 1500 AGL
The flight was NOT at sunset, that occurred 30 minutes after we landed
The flight was only 20 minutes long???
The stuffed us in like sardines, not fun!
The picnic left much to be desired and they certainly did not serve-up champagne as promised
The made us ride in a mold infested van to get back to our vehicle

They pretty much failed on all fronts and I would NOT recommend them to anyone else!
IF you do go, ensure you're not on a flight with 14 other people!?
Don't expect much, other than a SHORT ride in a balloon.
Keep your expectation low and you might not be disappointed or made ill by the mold as most of us were!

We are sorry to hear that you didn't have a pleasant experience with our company. We strive to try and make sure all of our passengers leave with a positive memory of their flight.

Unfortunately, hot air ballooning is a very weather dependant extreme sport. We do our best to make sure we are using the most up to date aviation weather available to us in determining if weather is conducive for a flight on a given day. With that being said, we update our automated weather phone system a 2PM daily for the sunset flights, which would be the last weather report we have access to, prior to our meeting time for sunset flights. We suggest that all passengers that need to travel outside of that window stay in close communication with us so we can keep you informed. We are certainly open to any suggestions on how to improve this system, however we have yet to determine a better way.

Hot air ballooning is an extreme sport. Our team does what it can to ensure the safety of all of our passengers. Some times there will be a wind shear at a certain altitude, which it is safe to fly, but not reccomended to go through that layer that contains the shear. In addition, hot air balloons cannot steer which direction they need to go for a safe landing spot. Therefore the wind directions at different altitudes must be utilized instead. It very well could have been the wind direction at the higher elevations was not a direction conducsive to your flight direction, which is why you would have stayed at a particular elevation. The average flight is between the ground and 3,000 feet.

Our flights are advertised as Sunrise and Sunset flights as the exact times vary depending on the time of year. Hot air balloons can ony fly twice daily, once around sunrise and again around sunset. Hot air balloons do not come equiped with safety lighting that would allow them to be flown in the dark. Flying in the dark makes it difficult to idenitfy clear landing spots and potential dangers, such as powers lines. Therefore, hot air balloons take off just as the sun is rising and in the afternoon they land just before the sun sets.

All flights are advertised for a range of time, for instance 20-60 minutes depending on the package that was purchased. Within that range of time, safety always takes prescendant. It is the pilots discression to land sooner than the advertised flight package if the safety of the passengers or landing spots could be compromised.

Our company has many different basket sizes for various passengers sizes. We range from private flights of 2ppl on upward. The number of people on your flight will depend on the number of passengers for a given date. Passengers always have the option of upgrading their flight package to be a private flight for just the people in their party. In addition, our reservation staff always collects the weight information of the passengers making a reservation. The accurancy of this information is very important, as this is the information that we use to determine how many people, by weight and size, that can be on a specific flight. We have found that people have been under estimated their weight, which has caused for some close quarters. We have built in a system to address this issue in the future and have witnessed this being a problem on a view occasions.

Our post flight picnics are designed to be finger foods. In the morning our team provides mini muffins, pastrys, granola bars, fruit tarts, orange juice and hot coffee. In the afternoon we supply a variety of cheeses and crackers, water, soda, beer, and champagne. Every flight is sent out with a bottle of champagne for toasting. I would find it hard to believe that there wasn't a toast at the end of your flight, however our team is human and could possibly have made a mistake and left it behind. If they did leave it behind, I sincerly apologize.

We are a growing company, and as with any growing company there are some growing pains. In order to accomodate more passengers we purchased a larger balloon in 2013. With purchasing the larger balloon we needed a larger vehicle to transport passengers to and from launch sites as we don't want passengers vehicles left on the lawns of our landowners, to be respectful. The van we used for most of this season was a used van. Passengers only spent a limited amount of time in it. With that being said, we have outgrown that van as well and have purcahsed a newer 15 passenger van.

Again we apologize that you didn't enjoy your experience with our company. We certainly never would want anyone to walk away with a bad memory. Our sincere apologies.
