Going to René's for dinner is always an occasion for our family, but last night it was truly special for it was the eve of our grandchild's first day at college. His wish for dinner that night was going to René's, so off we went!
We have been dining at René's since his days in Chestertown. He has never failed to present the most delicious fare, and he didn't fail us last night! We started with his traditional Potato and Leek Soup, absolutely the best anywhere! Our two teenagers then chose the pork, wrapped in prosciutto, while the rest of us chose from a very fine chicken and shrimp dish, a tasty special of salmon over shrimp risotto, a specially prepared ahi tuna, cooked to perfection, and the traditional Wienerschitzel, over homemade spaetzle. René did not disappoint! And although we were more than content with our dining experience, starting with the homemade humus and dipping oil to the main course, we couldn't leave without taking home one of his desserts, notably the Marscapone with Macadamia nuts soufflé - absolutely heavenly!!! Our server could not have been more attentive and helpful!
We were so pleased our college bound youngster chose René's for this special occasion, for it was perhaps, the most delicious meal we've ever had there, and that's saying a lot!!! Now we're hoping his course of study will bring him as much success as he had in choosing René's last night!
