I stayed at Vundu Camp in July,2011. I flew from Hwange National Park. I was met at the airstrip by Andy who was a superb guide. I saw a nyala on the way to the park. I really enjoyed combining game drives with walking safaris in Mana Pools. I'll never forget how Andy stopped a huge bull elephant charging our vehicle by hitting the dashboard and yelling at it. It was also incredible walking right into a huge herd of buffalo. Andrew and 3 of us crawled up to the concession's wild dog den,and we saw 3 dogs which growled at us and ran. I enjoyed seeing Mana Pools National Park outside of our concession because it's so beautiful. I also saw lions, hyenas, eland, zebra, kudu, and lots of huge elephants.
The tents are at the camp are simple, but very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the open-air shower. The food was quite good. I enjoyed having dinners with Andy,Mark,Ned and another guide.
i enjoyed going canoeing one afternoon. I'm planning to return to Vundu Camp later this year so that I can have better sightings of wild dogs, and hopefully their puppies. I'm also planning to go on a three day canoe safari.
