“Fantastic Houseboat trip aboard the Unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

Spent 4 nights onboard the Unique houseboat along with our family and what a time we had.
The boat was beautiful with 4 ensuite bedrooms and the crew were amazing. They catered for our every whim and the food was as good as any restaurant.
There were 8 adults in our party along with 4 young children and all of us had a ball.
Plenty wildlife to look out for, we saw hippo's; elephants, crocs, baboons, buffalo you name it.
If you enjoy fishing then this is a fantastic place to try your skills.
The boat also had a hot tub which was certainly a lovely way to cool down and of course the bar helped.
The boat comes with a pontoon fender boat and the captain is only too happy to take you off to where ever you fancy fishing. We were fortunate to have our own speed boat and between the 2 we set off every night for sundowners. What a life!

Lying on a houseboat doing NOTHING! Chilling at a Lodge while elephants walk within 5 meters from you and everyone is relaxed! The awesome beauty and colours of the clouds in an endless sky! A lake like glass. A lake like an angry ocean. ALIVE!!

“Musango Lodge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

If you want to spend time at Lake Kariba stay with Steve and Wendy at Musango Lodge. This is a small island in Lake Kariba. This family owned and run lodge was the best part of my last visit to Africa. You can go out on the lake in either the pantoon boat or a fishing boat. The viewing of elephants is like no other in the world. Steve has excellent knowledge of the wildlife and more than that he truly loves the animals. While we were there Steve found a cape buffalo with a snare around his neck. Steve paid to have a vet come out to the camp and remove the snare. I learned how to fish for bream while my husband learned how to catch tiger fish. There are only 8 cabins on the island and don't be surprise if you see waterbuck or crocs lounging on the beach just outside the secured area of the island. You can drive in from Vic Falls but it is a long drive. I recommend catching a charter flight out of Vic Falls into Bume Hills airstrip it is a little pricey but well worth it if you don't have 10 hours to spare driving. You will be met at Bume Hills where you will either ride in a safari jeep to the dock and then a short 10 minute boat trip to the island or you may be meet at the airstrip and take a 30 minute boat ride to the island.
This is #1 on my have to do it again list.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

I had a great experience on the Sea Lion with the company Kariba Ferries
I needed to get to Vic Falls as I did not have a vehicle
It was a long trip approximately 22hours but all meals are included in the price
The chairs are collapsible to make sleeping a pleasure
Staff are friendly and service excellent
Will recommend it any day
