My husband and I stayed at Hornbill over a weekend in July 2012. Tommy, Jackie and Sunera Millar are fantastic hosts with nothing too much trouble. Hornbill is a gorgeous, intimate lodge with only a few chalets and therefore the peace and quiet that a weekend escape from Harare demanded. The views over Lake Kariba are among the best in the area and we were also kept company by several zebra which wandered in to graze on the lush green grass. An amazing and very African experience. The nightly rates are inclusive of all meals (beautifully cooked by our hosts) and any drink that takes your fancy. Our glasses were never empty thanks to Tommy's care and attention!
The dam wall is an easy drive towards the Zambia border for a bit of sightseeing, and there are boats for hire down at Marineland, a few minutes drive back towards Makuti, to do a spot of fishing and spot an array of wildlife wandering near the shore of the lake.
We will definitely be back, and would recommend Hornbill to all our family and friends as a must visit on their trips to Zimbabwe.
