Hi Noortje. Thanks for this 5 Star review! And of course glad you enjoyed all three of our hospitality, food and safaris! We enjoyed meeting your family and of course we too are very excited about the new underground photography hide - great place to photograph elephants and very safe. We sincerely hope the rest of your journey went well. Best wishes from the Bomani team and all of us at Imvelo Safari Lodges!!

Bomani Lodge, set in a private reserve on the border of Hwange National Park is one of the most beautiful and exciting tented camps I have stayed at while travelling in Zimbabwe. On arrival a warm and friendly welcome from the staff sets the tone for the rest of your stay. The tents are spacious and comfortable with en suite bathrooms (plenty of hot water!) and a hot water bottle awaits you on chilly evenings. The main dining and lounge area is just a few metres away from a water hole and at night while sitting around a blazing fire you’ll see the elephants coming to drink and hear the exhilarating sounds of the bush: lions roaring, hyenas calling, the yapping of jackals and the grunts of hippos. A highlight is a trip to “Stoffel’s Pan” where you are taken to a comfortable hide to watch elephants drink just metres away while enjoying sundowners and delicious snacks. The photo opportunities are just incredible so make sure that your camera is fully charged! Another highlight is a visit to the neighbouring village and schools and to learn more about Imvelo Safari Lodges’ initiatives to create benefits from tourism and conservation for local communities. This is a magical place in which to immerse yourself.

Hi L. It was super to have you back at Bomani and glad you enjoyed yourself so much around the campfire and the show the lions and elephant put on for your last evening there. The work you did putting together the donations for the Ngamo school library was tremendous - you are a star! Come again soon. A very big thank you from the Bomani team, all of us at Imvelo safari lodges and all the teachers and kids at Ngamo!

My second time at Bomani and as last time, Butch and his team (especially Big Boy) are still doing all of the right things. A stunning location, just the right balance of comfort and 'bushness', and Butch's complete commitment to the local environment, people, culture and wildlife make this a must stop on any journey through Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is a fantastic country to visit and Butch is a great ambassador for the country and the people.
We saw an immense amount of wildlife, had a wonderful experience visiting the local school and spent some time helping service a number of water pumps that Butch oversees to keep the local elephants watered.
Great stuff and we will be back.

We stayed with a group of friends last week, and wow, we were met at Halfway House by the team, then driven out to the lodge about 1h45min, with loaded cooler boxes.
The tents are spacious, and well appointed, the food was tasty and well presented. The views from from both the tents and the central area are spectacular over looking the water hole, to top this off the guides and management are hugely knowledgable of the area and the wildlife.
Their social responsibilty with the local schools at Ngami, is a day not to be missed, as the camps in the surrounding areas have done wonders for this community.
I would recommend a minimum of three nights at this property.
The wildlife & birding is spectacular.
Also watch this space for their new property Camelthorn lodge a short drive away from Bomani, as this is an exciting new developement.
Thank you to all.

Room Tip: Choose their deluxe tents to the right of the central area - if on honeymoon - this suite is not to...

Jono, thanks for this great review. We're very happy your party enjoyed their stay so much. And you're right, Bomani is not just about good food, well appointed spacious tents and great wildlife and birding - we really are making a difference in the villages along the southern border of Hwange Park. And Camelthorn ... it's going to be magnificent!!! All the best to you and your family from all of the team at Imvelo Safari Lodges

If you are worried about going to Zimbabwe, don't be. Everyone we met was friendly and had a genuine smile and welcome. The Lodge is well appointed and has a real local charm. Elephant, buffalo, lion and many other animals roam around (and sometimes in) the camp. The local villagers are very welcoming and helped you understand the real Africa. The Lodges contribution to, and work with, local villages and schools is a model of self help. Staying at Bomani is not only a great experience, it also helps local people improve their lives. A special word for Petrus, our guide. His knowledge of local wildlife and the area is second to none. He was born and raised in Zimbabwe and makes an excellent guide. We had a wonderful time!

We spent three nights at Bomani in April 2013, guided by Mark Butcher and his team. We lived in East Africa for many years and did several Kenya/Uganda safaris. The Maasai Mara/Serengeti have incredible quantity of game, second to none in numbers and diversity. The Hwange game drives were equally fun: spectacular scenery, sunrises and sunsets beyond compare, the best sundowners in Africa. Quantity of game is reduced, but that only adds to the excitement. Every elephant, ostrich, zebra and lion is a treat. Above all, we enjoyed Mark's outstanding knowledge of the bush and his staff's exemplary service. The lodge is low-key and relaxed, but the quality--food, drinks, service--is second to none. Don't go to Bomani if you want a resort hotel with swimming pool, golf, internet, and television. Go to Bomani for the true experience of the Africa bush. We'll definitely return!

Room Tip: Stay in a tent, more authentic and more fun
