Bomani Camp offers the best of all worlds in one place. The hospitality of the staff is amazing, the dining is superb, and the accommodations are fantastic, but you never lose sight of the fact that you are in remote Zimbabwe. Viewing the large herds of elephant and cape buffalo from your tent's front porch as they drink from the water pan and waking to the sound of a lion roaring close by remind you of the reason you travel to Africa. From sunrise tea delivered to your tent to sundowners in the park, you will not be disappointed in any aspect of your stay at Bomani.

Just got back from a vacation that was out of a storybook. Bomani Lodge is everything I ever dreamed Africa could be. Tented cabins that made you feel like you were truly in the wilderness but with incredible luxury inside (hot showers, tiled bathrooms, beautiful furniture, laundry service). The animals are truly on your doorstep as the water pan is about 50 yds off the front of your tent - Elephants, Cape Buffalo, Waterbuck, Baboons, Impala.... We went with three generations and everyone loved it. The food and service were unbelievable. They went out of their way to make sure that even the youngest in the group had food they loved in addition to trying local specialties. Location is fabulous as it is only about 5 minutes away from a little used entrance to Hwange National Park. It was like we had the park to ourselves - Sunsdowners under a tree watching elephants and hippos anyone? We were also about 20 minutes from the closest village and our hosts arranged for us to take a tour, visit a regular home and our boys visited the local school. Thanks to everyone at Bomani who went out of their way to anticipate our every need.

I'll start off saying everyone on the staff is courteous and helpful! The food is wonderful! We stayed in the chalet and boy did we feel pampered! Our companions staying in the tents were delighted with their accommodations as well. I don't see how you could be disappointed with the hospitality.

Now to the main reason for the review - game viewing! You are right next to a watering hole. Animals aren't predictable, but your chances at some breathtaking elephant viewing are very good! We got to camp after dark to find dozens of elephants at the water hole. It was magical to fall asleep listening to them sloshing around in the water.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have great views of the watering hole.

When you picture Africa, Bomani is exactly that picture, open fields and swaying grass. As we arrived at the camp the first watering hole had hippos in it! When we pulled into the lodge where we were greeted by Big Boys and the staff , who made us feel right at home. The main lodge is an open air lodge with a beautiful view of the land and a wonderful watering hole next to it. We were able to watch hippos and elephants come and drink out of the watering hole each night. You will never be that close to such incredible animals. The tents we stayed in are very nice with a great view from your private porch. Each morning hot chocolate or coffee was brought to our tents. At night the animals sounds will put you to sleep. We sat down each night to a wonderful meal. For breakfast we had eggs, oatmeal, toasts, etc. We had lunch out in the bush surrounded by elephants and zebras. It was the most incredible lunch I have ever had. The camp is very well run by Big Boy and the rest of the staff. The photo safari was amazing! We saw elephants, zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, and more. The most incredible was the sunsets! Each day we went to a watering hole to watch the sun go down. Now I am from Texas and we have wonderful sunsets, but African sunsets by far cannot be beat, especially when you are sitting by a watering hole with elephants in the distance. Breath taking! I was very sad to leave Bomani and cannot wait to return there.

When I think Africa, I think about the Bomani Tented Camp. First off, the staff is absolutely amazing! They are there for you any time you need them, and their hospitality from the Chef to the Cleaning ladies is unmatched. Having dinner overlooking the watering hole right infront of the camp is stunning. Elephants, kudu, zebra, monkeys, and more come about 50 to 75 ft away from where you have all your meals. The accommodations are great and exceeded my expectations from the bed to the bathrooms. The activities led by a great team will complete the package as one of the best places, in my opinion, to stay at if your in Hwange National Park. The sight and experience is really unmatched anywhere in the World. i would highly recommend anyone wanting to experience Africa to go to Bomani, as it is one of the best, if not the best adventure I have ever had in my life.

Bomani is one of those places when you visit you feel like you are the star of a documentary. The lodging is just one part of the whole experience and one of the coolest. You stay in elevated luxury tents so the sounds of the African night are the white noes that sends you off to dreamland. The thing is when you awake your still in dreamland. Bomani is a lucid dream! The staff is great the site is amazing, the food is food network tasty and that is just the camp. The camp sets on the boarder of Hwange National Park and man what a park. When you leave camp in the back of a Land Cruise is when your documentary begins. Just as you leave the camp, I mean like 50 yards after you leave camp you are in the wilds of Africa and every kilometer you travel from there is National Geographic stuff. Elephants wonder everywhere, Wildebeast, Giraffe, Zebra, Hippo, Lion, Jackal, Buffalo, you name it they are all looking at you looking at them through your lens. Then there are the village trips and that too is a documentary level experience. I could write a book on my experience at Bomani, it was one of those life changers. But alas a book would take up too much space here so I'll let the photos speak for me.

Room Tip: Ask for coffee or tea to be delivered to your room prior to sunrise and welcome the African morning...

We arrived at the Bomani Tent Lodge to smiling faces and helpful hands. They grabbed our luggage and took it to our tent. A special thanks to Big Boy and Louve-Mon (something like that I called him Love Man!!). Big Boy and Love Man were fantastic and very helpful and friendly. They waited on us hand and foot the entire time.

The tents are very luxurious, and quite ingenious. They built a 4 foot platform for the tent to rest on. The restroom is built with Bali or Africa Thatch (straw hut looking stuff!) on the outside of the tent. The restrooms are very nice and clean and you have hot water for showers. They covered the tent and restroom with a canopy roof making it one giant tent! You can brag saying you "roughed it" in a tent on Safari, but really your tent was nicer than most apartments I have seen.

The Main Lodge area where you drink, eat, and relax is breathtaking! It is very nice and there are plenty of comfy seats everywhere to relax and unwind. There is a campfire directly outside the main area where you can sip on a cocktail and see more stars than you can imagine.

The food was terrific! They have a buffet style breakfast in the mornings which consists of cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bacon, eggs, sausage, bread, and all kinds of fruit juices. Lunch was very special and delicious. They made a grilled chicken with amazing seasoning. I helped myself to fourths. Dinners were always fantastic as well. They offer a variety of wild game meats which are done perfectly.

The Bomani Tented Lodge sits on the outskirts of Hwange National Park. You drive for 3 minutes and you are in the park. My camera has hardly any zoom and I still got great pictures. It is amazing because you safely get to see wild African animals up close. We opted to have lunch at the Elephant Watering Hole. I strongly suggest doing that for lunch. You eat in the field while elephants, monkeys, zebras, and plenty more come to drink water.

If you are planning a Safari, this really is the best place to stay. Check out my pictures to see all the different animals you can see. Very Cool Specialty Lodging!
