“They made a great come back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2014

I wrote a very scathing review back in 2012 on this hotel, due to such a bad start to the holiday. I have tried to edit it several times, or make an additional comment, but don't seem able to.

Upon reading my review, while we were still at the hotel, the management made it their priority to make our stay a more pleasant one and they achieved this, and more. Their resort 'nature' guy, Charles took us on a fantastic, exhilarating (and bloody dangerous - but thrilling) walk around the entire island. We were treated much better and did start to notice improvements. We did go on the trip to tortoise island which was AMAZING!!! If you got to St Annes, you must go to the tortoise island, you will be amazed.

We left feeling like we had been on a luxury holiday. It was a bad start, but I can not fault the hotel and staff on sorting this out and making our stay truly wonderful. I can't quite give it a 5/5 as it still needs improvements, but I can certainly recommend this resort.

My recommendation would be to research your room type though.

Room Tip: Try out the trip to tortoise island. Go for a room upgrade.

We have enjoyed our honeymoon in June 2014 at Sainte Anne and we have had the best time ever. The service at the resort is outstanding and very personal. We have felt super welcome and were taken incredibly well care off from the moment we arrived at the airport until we left the island. The island and resort are both very authentic and fabulous. I have read reviews before we went there and had read some complaints about food, service and views and I honestly can not agree with any of them.
The resort may not be the newest of the newest but it compensates completely for this with its authenticity. We had the feeling we were almost alone in the world which is pretty amazing, especially during a honeymoon :)
The food was excellent, at all restaurants, as were the villas. When we arrived, we found out that we got a double upgrade (thanks to our representative from DeLuxeTravel - the Netherlands) which was fantastic of course. The villa was close to the beautiful beach, the main restaurant and had its own pool.
Our room was cleaned every day and looked crispy clean every time we came back from breakfast and dinner (seriously, we were amazed that they did everything while we were gone, excellent!)
The island itself is a tropical dream, and the resort offers plenty of activities. We wanted to go island hopping initially, but we felt so comfortable at Sainte Anne that we did not bother going away.

If you are looking for an ultimate romantic honeymoon at one of the most beautiful places on earth: look no further! It may not be cheap but for us it was worth every euro spent :)

Room Tip: I would recommend a villa in the vicinity of the main buildings so that you can walk there. We had a...

This resort is truly a 5 star experience. Sainte Anne's is its own little island which adds to the beauty of it. The island is well maintained and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Medisi in particular made our stay memorable as she helped arrange a private beach dinner on our weddding anniversary as well as a private trip to a separate, secluded beach on the island on the day. She truly went out of her way to ensure our stay was memorable. The island uses bicycles to get around from place to place which adds such a unique touch to this remarkable resort. We stayed in a pool villa which was truly beautiful. The rooms are clean and spacious and the food in general was always delicious. The SPA is a must for anyone who wants to relax and it offers a variety of treatments to keep you coming back. We will definitely return to this island one day as we truly loved everything about it.

Room Tip: A pool villa (if within your budget) is a must!

Beachcomber Sainte Anne Resort & Spa is easy reachable from the airport.

A private boat brings you from the main island to the island of Sainte Anne. Welcome is OK but not more than that. Overall service mindedness is less than what I expected from thar type of hotel. Comparing to the Trou aux Biches in Mauritius which is also part of the Beachcomber group the level of service mindedness of staff is significantly lower.

Main pool is good and access to the beach from that main pool is good. However the view from this side is not nice since you look directly onto Mahe with wind turbines, the harbor, etc - not really the most idyllic view in the Seychelles. However if you go the beach on the other side the view is splendid.

Restaurant and food is in general is good. One restaurant was however closed for the full stay (Océane). Also the beach bar on one side of the Island was closed due to see weed.
We opted for the Island All Inclusive Formula which is I think the best thing to do. The Bar with live music every night is very good and is well situated.

The water activities were not as expected and were not at the main site of the hotel.

Overall a good hotel with more positive than negative points. The attention point for me is however the service mindedness of staff.

I have to agree with everything written in the review below, entitled Heaven on Earth, and to avoid repetition will aim to add to this review rather than repeat. This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been (compared to Thailand/ Australia/ Caribbean ect). The wind turbines do spoil the view, but you can angle your sun longer away from them.
Ask for a villa beginning with 500... these face the long beach. The villas facing the short beach had a strange damp smell about them.
Talk to Sam re reservations for the restaurants, as although the buffet food was of fantastic quality, we didn’t want buffet morning noon and night. Sam managed to get us into the al la cart restaurants almost every night of our 2 week honeymoon.
Go on the free sunset walk. The guide was fantastically knowledgeable about the local fauna and flora.
Go on the free snorkel trips. Its a short hop across to the neighboring island and the snorkeling was fantastic – better than both the red sea and Great Barrier reef. Take a water bottle stuffed with bread. Let it fill with water, then squeeze the mush out in front of you. You will instantly be surrounded by fabulous array of tropical fish.
Enjoy watching the baby sharks from the boardwalk. They are harmless and swim away if you get too close, so don’t fear them.
Enjoy the spa. It is eye wateringly expensive so we only had our complimentary honey moon massage, but it is the best massage I’ve ever had!

The resort was only 30% full in early June so we literally had the beach and pool to ourselves most days. So romantic and peaceful. No problem getting reservations for dinner.
We had a tropical villa which looked through the palm trees to the beach. It was lovely to lie in bed in the morning and look out to sea. I’m not sure that the extra cost justifies the very small plunge pool you get with a pool villa. I can see why families like them, but they aren’t big enough for adult swimming, and the walled garden blocks the view of the beach.
Huge bathroom and walk in closet!
Truly fabulous food, in all restaurants and all meals. We enjoy a few visits per year to various Michelin started restaurants, and the food here didn’t disappoint for an all inclusive.
If you leave a note in your mini bar the bar man will swop out drinks you don’t want with drinks you do.
They have great live music in the main bar every evening.
The main bar serve canapés in the early evening with your drinks. So head there before your restaurant reservation.
They provide a beach bag which you can take home. Also slippers and gowns in the room for use during your stay.
We can’t praise Seyexclusives and Creole travel (private airport transfers) enough, great advise, insight and by the lowest price.
The spa pool and loungers were in poor repair – I would have complained if I had paid for my massage
The main pool floor was actually so slimy one day that I did complain, I don’t think it is chlorinated and relies on a filter and a couple of work men effectively mopping the floor to remove the slime.
There isn’t a regular beach service meaning you have to chuck on your cloths and walk to the bar when you need a drink. This was irritating as the bar men were just stood about twiddling their thumbs and should have been told to patrol the beach.
They closed La Ocean restaurant whilst we were there, without telling us, so we arrived for our reservation, to be told it was closed and to go to the buffet. This left one al la cart restaurant and le Robinson available, so food got quiet repetitive. They only have 3 choices on Le Mont Fleuri’s menu, and the menu is only changes fortnightly. We tried everything and it was all delicious, but if you are a fussy eater, you may find yourself at the buffet.
The beds were very hard (we are used to a temper cloud) but he pillows were lovely and soft.
The spa don’t communicate with the hotel, so we arrived for our complimentary honeymoon massage, as per our invitation, to be told by the spa that they weren’t expecting us till the flowing day! Suggest double checking your reservation with the spa, as we were told this happens regularly.
They closed one beach because of the amount of sea weed. Every day lots of sea weed washed up on the pool side beach and wasn’t cleared away regularly. This is unacceptable, after a couple of days the smell was overwhelming. One man with a garden rake was dispatched to bag it up. The beach should be cleared every day, before the guests awake, as is done in the Caribbean.
In short, all the complaints and problems we had with this resort are down to bad management, lack of leadership and no communication. If they sort out the management this resort would be world leading, and more comparable with the experience offered by 5 star Caribbean resorts. As it was our honeymoon we didn’t mind paying twice as much for less luxury (and cleanliness) than we could have got in Antigua, Mexico or Jamaica, but if this had been a regular holiday I would have felt cheated for the price we paid. However if your heart is set on the Seychelles (as ours was) I don't believe you will get better value for money else were. If you can afford significantly more then the four seasons or banyan tree would be good options, but £6800 for two weeks all inclusive was as much as we were prepared to pay, and that wouldn't stretch to the four seasons.

Room Tip: ask for a room in the 500 series. Pool villas have very small pools and a wall that blocks the sea v...

We travelled to this wonderful resort in May with Seyexclusive - what a fantastic experience we had, truly a holiday of a lifetime.
The island is served from a private jetty about 10 minutes drive from the airport. Creole Travel Services organised our transfers and we had 10 minutes in a beautiful lounge waiting for our car. The departure area at the jetty was wonderful and the lovely ladies organised our luggage and room info. A short boat ride took us to the island.
We were met at the jetty and taken to reception to check in - our only gripe of the whole experience was that we arrived around 9 in the morning after travelling for almost 2hrs (manchester - Heathrow - Dubai - Mahe) and we were told we would have to wait for our room until 2pm. I was not exactly amused and several irate conversations later, our room was ready.
Although that was a small issue, the staff throughout the hotel were wonderful throughout our stay, nothing was too much for them and we have stayed in contact with the best barmen on the island - Gutam Oli - a credit to the resort and he missed some wonderful cocktails for us and his service was second to none.
Our villa was facing the giant tortoise enclosure and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island on the room bikes !
The food is amazing - we had two wonderful nights at the Robinson Crusoe and Le Mont Fleuri and the buffet was excellent. We had upgraded to the All Inclusive package which was worth every penny and we enjoyed champagne and champagne cocktails in the evenings!
The beaches are beautiful but the water is very shallow so doesn't allow for snorkelling, however the hotel runs two complementary boat trip to a nearby reef every day and that was well worth doing - the school of HUGE batfish was amazon and we saw seahorses for the first time.
Creole Travel and the Seychelles Tourist Board organised a tour of Mahe for us - well worth a visit. we had a brilliant day and our driver was great company. we had lunch at the Chez Batista restaurant - a family were on the beach playing traditional games such as egg and spoon races. It gave us all a chance to cheer them on and it was a great lunch on a gorgeous beach.
we also island hopped for the day to Praslin and La Digue - the inter island cat is a fantastic oa services, quick, clean and on time. La Digue was amazing - rent your push bike, put your gear in the basket and off you go!! We would definitely go back to La Digue to stay. Praslin was very big but beautiful. Anze Lazio was beautiful and we had a very nice lunch at Bon Bon Plume - the thunderstorm knocked out the power so everyone had to improvise, great atmosphere and good fun!!
There are giant tortoises wherever you go and I fell in love !
We were only here for a week but it was the best time of our lives. I cannot thank Charles Kerrigan and his team enough at Seyexclusive for organising our holiday and trips and of course Creole Travel and the Seychelles Tourist Board were wonderful.
The people on the islands are what truly make your holiday here - they are soooo friendly - as you ride your bike everyone waves and shouts hello - why would anyone ever want to leave !?
Go, enjoy, live the dream !!

Room Tip: If you have difficulty walking ask for a room near reception - otherwise you risk a steep uphill wal...

Sainte Ann wedding to remember

We stayed here for a couple of weeks at the end of March. Sainte Anne really is a beautiful resort. We opted for a pool villa which is more private than the garden villla. In hindsight however, we wished we hadn't paid extra for our own pool as it was so lovely and quiet on the beach, we hardly ever used our pool.

Stephanie and Kaycee were brilliant in organising the details for our wedding ceremony. I never felt anxious or stressed at any point during the day -even though it rained!

The villa was lovey and clean. The majority of staff were very helpful and friendly. It would have been nice if the menu at La Takamaka and Mont Fleuri were changed -they were the same for the 10 days we stayed there.

I'm not sure if it was the time of year we were there, but we weren't prepared for all the mosquitoes! I'd recommend packing strong insect repellant and you'll be fine :-).
