“What a trip!! TOP HIGHLTIGHT OF LA DIGUE”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

We first heard about Robert, from our TA friend – Mikiduta, who actually is Seychelles`s specialist at TA forum.
We knew that Robert is often seen in Source d`Argent so we went there to find him. Unfortunately it was late and he was already gone, nonetheless we have met very helpful girl – who has worked as a “beach police” and she gave us Robert`s phone number. She also managed to arrange a meeting in our hotel later this day. He came and told us everything we need about our future trip to Anse Marron. For those of You that would like to contact him, I put his contact details below.
Next day we went for a trip. First of all Robert asks us what path do we want to go. The hard one or the easier. We decided for the first one, starting from this part of an island near Grand Anse. The trail led through the jungle, the rocks and the ocean in high tide. It was very exciting. At the beginning of the trail we were lucky to see the most beautiful view so far.
For us Robert companionship was obligatory. I didn`t find this path very difficult however my girlfriend was a little scared so in some points while hiking rocks, she needed Robert`s asecurrancy.
After one hour walk, we finally reached the destination. We felt captivated.
Robert is caring and talkative person. We lough together when he admitted that his girlfriend is polish. While we were sunbathing and swimming Robert had prepared great plate of fruits which he was collecting all the way . Our way back led next to the shore in direction to ASDA. This part of track was harder. Without Robert it wouldn`t be possible to reach ASDA. He knew every little stone there like his own pocket. As we were walking Robert had shown us a lot of trees, plants, endemic birds - paradise flycatchers -( male and female ). He has a lot of knowledge about the Seychelles nature. He was describing a lot of things like local herbs etc.
We recommend Roberts companionship for every one of You! Especially for those who like to feel
a scent of adventure. Trip with Robert is a highlight of Seychelles

“Highlight of our trip”
Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

Robert was an amazing guide! We organized the tour by email and he met us at our hotel the evening prior and explained the day thoroughly. We saw incredible areas of La Digue that we would never have seen or known about otherwise. He was very patient, careful and trustworthy. The lunch he prepared for us was delicious and quite a sight to see! Gathering many of the fresh fruits along the way was fun and rewarding. We spent two weeks in the Seychelles and this was by far the highlight of our trip!!! We would highly recommend anyone travelling to La Digue to spend the day with Robert as it will be a day you'll never forget or regret. It would impossible to learn what we did about La Digue or see the breathtaking landacape without the guidance of Robert!
He also has a great friend by the name of Kevin who hosts wonderful snorkeling trips! This is where we swam with turtles and saw an amazing range of fish and coral.

“Anse Marron - hidden gem of La Digue”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We contacted Robert Agnes - the local guide - 2 months before reaching La Digue via e-mail and he replied promptly and we decided to meet in the evening after we have arrived on the island. We arrived on La Digue, we checked-in at Etoile Labrine, had the dinner and then we met Robert. We had a tight vacation schedule so we decided to go for a Thursday when Robert was doing Anse Marron from Anse Source d'Argent. If you go with him try to confirm all the details of the trip in the evening before the trip, I called him on Wed evening, he confirmed the trip but he told me that he has to change the departure time: instead of 8.30 he told us that we will start at 9.30.

Next day started in the worst way possible. When we opened the door of our room there was a torrential rain in progress and we said that we are very unlucky... Climbing the wet rocks after rain is a madness. At 9 o'clock suddenly the rain stopped and the sun little by little was reigning again the sky. I called again Robert and we were suppose to meet around 9.50 on ASDA beach. We took our bikes, my backpack (which btw must have the following items: sport shoes for climbing, plenty of water - we took 3 litres, sunglasses, sun lotion and caps) and off we went to ASDA. We paid the entrance fee (100 Rs) at L'Union Estate, we parked the bikes at Lanbousier restaurant and we headed to ASDA. ASDA was not so lovely like we found it on November because of the seaweed and of the dogs. We did not care because we were expecting much more from Anse Marron.

We met Robert and we began our adventure through the forrest, climbing the rocks and walking through the water at high tide. Being high tide in the first part of our journey the water was reaching our tummies and the backpack I had to keep over my head. When we reached Anse Pierrot another difficult job was waiting for us: climbing the rocks. I have done Anse Marron also in the past but now things were looking much easier because Robert knows almost every stone of La Digue. He helped us all the time when we had difficulties in climbing the rocks. After climbing the rocks we reached Anse Bonne Carret and from here the path goes through the woods. We discovered new plants with the help of Robert: indian mulberry for example which has a smell of stinky cheese and it is the favourite food of giant tortoises.

After 45 mins of adventure in the water, on the rocks and through the woods we reached Anse Marron. It is the one of the best wild beaches I have ever seen, with rocks protecting a small cove when you can swim peacefully and with the giant rock that stays perfectly on other rock. We were asking ourselves how in the world that rock got there while Robert is thanking God after he sleeps under the famous rock. We started to take photos, then we swam in the natural swimming pool while the waves were breaking by hitting the rocks. Robert made for us a fruit platter with passion fruit, 2 types of oranges (green also), small bananas, tangerines, golden apple, mango and papaya. Then we served the sandwiches which were included in our 35 euro fee. Anse Marron is splitted in 2: the famous beach with unimaginable beauty and the normal beach where you can see high waves and play with them. We stayed at Anse Marron 3hrs and everything went perfect. Food, swimming, nature. I forgot to tell you that when we arrived at Anse Marron nobody was there so we enjoyed a lot this beautiful Paradise beach. After 3 hrs of swimming, taking pictures, filming and eating tropical fruits we had to leave Anse Marron. We took the same way back and it was still high tide. Robert is not talking too much but he is very helpful when asking for anything. When we reached Anse Source d'Argent people were asking themselves from where we are coming and I was joking with Robert that we were glad to see a human being after 3 days of non stop walking.

It was one of the highlights of our vacations in Seychelles and definitely worths every penny.

I definitely recommend Robert for a day trip to Anse Marron. Not only that he is a great guide but also he is a great rock climber; You will be amazed to see what rocks he climbed.
