“SAME BEAUTIFUL BEACH AS GRANDE ANSE, BUT smaller !”
Review of Petite Anse

My wife and I spent 5 nights in Seychelles in April 2013, staying in La Digue, in Le Relax Beach House. We decided to visit on the same day Grande Anse, Petite Anse and Anse Coco. Therefore, we went by foot from our hotel to Grande Anse, actually I would advise you to do it by bike, it will be faster and easier, but by foot, you can also see much more of the environment than by bike ! Once you reach Grande Anse, there is a wooden restaurant in open air, with sand everywhere. From there, there is an indication to folllow "to Petite Anse", so just follow the little walking way and be ready to climb a small hill in order to reach Petite Anse. The way to get there can be difficult if you are not in very good physical condition and don't forget that with 30 degrees Celsius, sun and fatigue, you will need to drink a lot of water (take minimum 2 liters per person) and to wear good basket, you can not do it safely with tongues on your feet...
Once you reach Petite Anse, be aware that there will not be much shadow around and the sun at midday is a killer under equator, unless you go inside the tropical forest. The waves can be very big, high and current is extremely strong and dangerous ! So, avoid to swim too far away if you decide to take a refreshing bath at water temperature of 29 degrees Celsius in April, we did it in Anse Coco, all was ok, but you really feel the strong waves pulling you away from the beach side...
I will soon add some photos HD to this review in order for you to fully understand what I mean, please also don't hesitate to have a look to my www.youtube.com channel, subject being : otterboris, where I will soon post videos HD of Anse Source d'Argent, Anse Coco and Coco Island for example.

Enjoy and try to go there once in your life at least, to be able to watch the pictures of those awesome beaches and to say to yourself, wahoo ! I was there...

Petite Anse is a relatively remote and quiet beach on the furthest end of the island from the main town. It's a good 30 minute bike ride from the main town up and down a few gentle hills but a rather pleasant ride. You'll arrive at the bigger Grand Anse beach which is much more popular with a cafe/bar and many more visitors. Simply walk to the left when you arrive (NW) following the little path (marked) on the edge of the beach and then climb the hill. It's a fairly steep climb but not too onerous if you're fairly fit, and then down the other side. You'll be rewarded with a lovely picturesque cove with very few people even in the middle of the day. It's still quite a large beach so easy to find a spot away from everyone else. Usually it's a few couples and small groups, perhaps 10 people at the most. It's also got a lot of wildlife, so look out for crabs, birds and various strange insects. A very pleasant, romantic, and quiet beach, for those who want peace and quiet and a beach nearly to themselves.

One of my favorite beaches, it's a little harder to get to; first bike to grand anse, then walk through the jungle up&downhill with a little climbing. which is good because that means less people. Nice big waves, lots of fun surf swimming here (don't go deep, it;s really strong, sometimes you can't swim here!!!!) and best of all there are some stick palm leaf build beach shelters, Guys who build this, whoever you are, thank you!!!
Unforunately I did not went to coco because the walk would be a little too much for a pregnant girlfriend, I guess coco is even better because it also has a natural pool. D'argent is more beautiful but petit is much quieter, we only had some 10 people there. It is not that petit, still probably some 400 meters or so

more remote, few people, refreshing azur waves, but also hard to find shade like Grand Anse. 10 min walk over a nice, small tropical hill from Grand Anse.
