“outstanding service”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

We stayed 6 nights in December. The room was extremely clean, the owner, Verena vey nice. They welcome you with fresh fruit juice, bananas, coconats. The garden is very nice and you see they take care of it. She found a bycicle with Baby seat that was there when we arrived and everything we asked she did her best to help. Since this is a small guest house with 5 or 6 rooms I didn't expect such a nice service. The only thing I must say is that it is up in a hill, 5 minutes bycicle from La Passe, not walking distance. The good thing about the location is that you have a lot of privacy and you hear only birds and other animals, very quiet to sleep.

We spent a very good 4 nights stay in Cocotier du Rocher, second half of October 2013.
This guesthouse, with a nice tropical garden, is well placed, not far from inter island ferry. Rooms are large with a well equiped kitchen. We had each morning our breakfast on the terrace. We really THANK's a lot Verena and Stephane for their welcome and their recommendations all along our stay. Stephane organized us snorkling trip to Coco, Felicité and Grande Soeur islands which was really great. This whole day trip was done using very good and friendly 'Keria' boat company. We had a BBQ on Grande soeur Island at mid-day.
Do not hesitate to book a room in this guesthouse for your stay in La Digue.

La Digue is a laid back island destination with beautiful beaches and great excursion opportunities to Félicité, Coco island etc.

The accommodation itself was nothing exceptional and a few issues made me lean more to the negative side.

The location was not very convenient as neither the beach nor the jetty (island centre) was very close compared to the island size. On arrival, nobody comes to pick you up from the jetty and if you don't want to pay the expensive taxi fee, you have to walk uphill for 10 minutes, which is not an easy task if you have a big luggage to carry in 30 degrees and under the sun. It is convenient that there is a mini market next door but in general there are mini-markets and snack shops everywhere (the most common type of fast- but good quality food in Seychelles).

We rented bikes via the owner for a price of 100 rupees per day but they were both in a pretty bad shape. We asked to change one of the two as the problems made it a pain to use (no gears, terrible continuous noise). To return back with the bike after sunset, it is mandatory to use a flash light - none was provided.

The room itself was ok (we stayed in Cafoul Coco) but there are no amenities (shampoo, bath soap) or bath towels available. The adjoint kitchen which had a separate external door was always left open by the cleaning lady. It may be safe but I didn't understand why everyone could access our kitchen, if wanted...it was not supposed to be shared anyway.

There was breakfast offered in additional price. We didn't have the chance to try it as there was nobody at the reception when we returned from our dinner.

Something else that left me a bad impression was the recommendation by the owner about a boat excursion in neighboring islands. The price offered was double compared to what we found, chose and greatly enjoyed after some research close to the jetty. Obviously, this is not related to the accommodation itself but it made me feel treated as a tourist, in a bad sense...

Despite these nuances, I enjoyed very much the special character of this island which has a lot to offer.

Let me start with this: La Digue is a truly amazing island. We enjoyed every minute of our stay on this laid back tropical paradise. If you decide to go to Seychelles, make sure La Digue gets a big portion of your time!

An important factor in the success of holiday on La Digue was our stay at Cocotier du Rocher. It simply ticks all the boxes. The chalets are very comfortable and well maintained. They are situated in a beautiful garden centrally located in the hills of La Digue, a good location to explore the island. But most of all: Cocotier du Rocher is managed by a team of great people. Verana and her sun Stephan are always there to make their guests’ life easier. They provided us with all the care and useful information we could wish for. They made us feel at home and free of troubles, just like a holiday has to be. We feel very lucky to have met them. As long as they will run Cocotier du Rocher, this will be a great place to stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed in this guest house for three nights in early July. We think it is simply great! The houses are beautiful, furniture is pretty modern and very nice, rooms and bathroom are very clean and comfortable, you have your own balcony, everything surrounded by a tropical garden. There is also a modern and well working air conditioning system.

The kitchen is small but pretty equipped, including fridge, microwave, plates, glasses and cutlery; nothing to eat but we bought breakfast and so we didn't need anything more. For lunch and dinnner, we bought good food at the take aways which are quite numerous on the island and close to this place, but you can have meal served on your balcony prepared by the owner, Verena.

We suggest you to include breakfast, as it is served, at your preferred time, on your balcony and the lady prepares lots of good things in advance, so that you find it ready at the agreed time. We were served fresh fruits coming directly from the garden, home-made jam and juice, tea, milk, coffee (in powder), omelette, toasted bread, etc....everything so good. It is really a great experience to have breakfast in this way.

Verena and her son Stéphan are simply great! They are helpful, kind and friendly. We liked them so much! They are also very well organized. I booked from home via email only and received very prompt, clear and detailed answers.

At this place you can also rent bikes, which is a must in La Digue as well as a very nice experience. They can also provide you with flashlights for the night as most of the island is not illuminated.

One day we will for sure come back to Seychelles, and we will have no doubt: no need to look around, here there is everything we need.

Last, next time we come back to Seychelles, we will probably consider the guest house solution also in other islands, as it is cheap, comfortable and very well managed by local people.

After Acquario Villa on Praslin we chose Cocotier du Rocher for La digue.

First when I booked this location I had to pay 25% deposit by making a bank transfer which is a little inconvenient because additionally you have to pay the fees for all the transit banks. Unfortunately, I understand this is normal practice for La digue guest houses.

When we arrived on La digue, we decided to walk to the guest house (20 mins from the jetty). If you decide to walk, (instead of taking a taxi which could be pricey for a 5 mins ride) you basically turn right after the jetty, and then after about 50m there is a little cafe on the left with a road junction, turn left there and keep walking for about 15 mins, you'll pass a "Pick&Pay" supermarket on your left and then finally see the guest house on the right.

To get around the island it's a must to rent a bike and you can rent it from the guesthouse for 100 rupees/day/person, but be careful some of them may have technical issues (it happened to us but we explained it to our guest and he changed it for us for a far better one). When riding the bike at night, it's good to have a flashlight with you because the roads are not lit.

Verena and her son Stephane are very good hosts, they provided us with useful information about the island, the beaches, restaurants and take-aways, always eager to help and make you feel comfortable.

They have a beautiful garden with colorful flowers, exotic trees and relaxing hammocks tied to palms.

We stayed at Coco Sec apartment which has a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and it's own terrace. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen was poorly equipped, the sink had an issue and there was an odd smell.
Also, at night geckos came in the kitchen searching for insects and food. It was a little strange at first but we got used to them.
The bathroom was clean, the shower a little uncomfortable because it's fixed to the wall with no hose. We didn't have a hair dryer but we requested and were given one.
Also, in contrast to Aquario villa we noticed they don't provide beach towels unless asked(ours were wet) and they were bath towels.
The terrace is very nice and relaxing, makes you feel in the middle of the nature.
The breakfast is 10 euros and is optional, we didn't try it.

All in all, we had a nice stay, but comparing with the accommodation from Praslin, the apartment is less comfortable.

The cleaningness of the room is amazing! I can call spotless!
If I go back to la digue, I will go again for sure!
