“Stunning look”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

This beach has stunning, picture-like look. It has great Restaurant with great freshly grilled food (will cost you about 20 EUR per person without drinks).
The bad news about Grand Anse is that current is extremely strong and dangerous, waves are rough and not suitable for young children and that there is practically no usable shadow to hide from strong sun, except under shade of rocks on extreme left side, and only until lunch time.

“Wow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

Well worth the cycle ride from Anse severe for us, although there is transport available.
Great for wave bashing but not for swimming.
As others have pointed out there is very little shade.
Well worth a visit

“Wonderful beach, big waves and no shade”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

Wonderful beach with a WOW factor. The water color is breath taking, but the waves can be dangerous. There is only one big tree that provide shadow, so avoid hot hours. There is a restaurant just there where you can enjoy fresh fish and cold drinks.

“Very extreme swimming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

Sometimes there are a waves higher than 2 meters, so be very careful. I'd almost broken my back a few times. There is only one tree, so take an umbrella not to get burned.

“GRANDE ANSE, LARGE, LONG, BEAUTIFUL BEACH BUT WITHOUT SHADOW AND STRONG WAVES !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

My wife and I spent 5 nights in Seychelles, staying in La Digue (in Le Relax Beach House) in April 2013, on my 44th birthday celebration. On our 2nd day, we decided to visit Grand Anse, Petite Anse and Anse Coco on the same day, which was logical, as all those 3 beautiful beaches follow each other.
So, we incredibly decided to go there by foot and not by bike, as everyone is doing... It took us almost 1 hour to reach Grande Anse by foot, under sun and heat (30 degrees Celsius), so if you want to do it like us, think about good basket and enough water as you will walk a lot. But on the other side, to walk slowly gives you possibility to fully enjoy the views all around you, as there are many things to be seen, like animals, plants, palm trees, houses, mountain, well you will get everything in your eyes by walking slowly, like we did !
Once we arrived in Grande Anse, there was a little beach restaurant, where you can eat and drink, but we did not stop. We took right and went to the end of Grande Anse beach, to make HD photos and HD videos. You will soon see some of my HD photos that I will add to my review within the next days and please feel free to watch my HD videos of La Digue on my www.youtube.com channel, subject being : otterboris. I also added Anse Coco, Cocos Island, Anse Source d'Argent and Le Relax Beach House videos).
Grande Anse beach itself is big, long and large, however please be aware that you hardly will find shadow to protect you from the killing equatorial sun. Furthermore, huge waves and strong current are exisiting, so if you want to take an ocean bath after sweating so much to reach the place, be very careful, as your life will depend on your decisions...
Well, that'it it ! So, see you maybe there soon, as we will for sure be back soon or later :-).
Enjoy life !
