This was our second time at Ports Cafe. First time was a year and a half ago and I have waited for so long to have that steamed shrimp again. I'm from Baltimore, and honestly I've never had such perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp there. I don't know what they do differently but, it's just AMAZING! Even brought a pound home with us. The shrimp alone gives them 5 stars from me.
5 of us went this evening. We had reservations for 7:30 and weren't seated until 7:45. Waiter was attentive and the service was excellent. Ordered Nacho's (pass) and steamed shrimp as appetizers. Everyone loved the shrimp! 3 of us ordered ribeye w/7 oz lobster tail, 1 sirloin wrapped in bacon, 1 pasta w/meatballs. The ribeye was great when you didn't bite into gristle, there was A LOT of gristle. My lobster was excellent but, 1/2 of my daughters tail wasn't cooked. Mashed potatoes were just AWFUL, way, way to much salt and pepper, honestly the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. For $32 a plate, I wasn't impressed. My husbands sirloin was good, not great. My daughters boyfriend loved the pasta & meatballs. Creme Brulee for dessert was typical. Total bill was $230 for 5 of us without a tip & no alcohol.
Had an hour and a half ride home and drank 2 full bottles of Poland Spring, I'm on my third. Just way to much salt in everything.
I'll go back but, only for that AMAZING shrimp!
