We always stay at "the castle" and have since 1982. We love the older part. Yes, it is dated..... but....... it is romantic and quaint. We have stayed in every room in the castle except the bridal suite. Our favorites are the bronze room (wine spigot right outside) the billiard room (has a small balcony) and the otis suite. Large enough for family to "hang" The grounds are nice, always a wedding on Sat it seems. Dinner is ok.... about the best you get in the town unless you go next door to the neighboring resort. I guess we just love it as it has been "our place" for a getaway for a long long time and will continue.

My husband and I stayed in room 308 one of the Torrent Rooms at the Vinifera Inn. The Vinifera Inn is the newer part that is upstairs attached to the castle. We liked our room because it was very large with a Jacuzzi and fireplace. There were some things that we noticed like how the curtains were dirty and the light fixtures on the ceiling needed dusting. My husband purchased the spring into love package which was a waste of money. It gave us a $40 voucher to eat at stonecutters, a bottle of wine and an assortment of chocolates. We chose to eat at Edgars which is the nicer restaurant on site and they allowed us to use our voucher their as well. I would also like to point out that they make it sound like there are two restaurants to choose from Stonecutters and Edgars but in reality both of the restaurants food is cooked in the kitchen of the castle and made by the same chief. The food was horrible. My husband ordered the prime rib which was not slow roasted for 6 hours like they had described and was very tough and tasted funny. I ordered the catch which was a sword fish with rice it had good flavor but was so over cooked I was sawing into it with my knife. We had a good time and the staff was friendly enough but overall the Belhurst did not meet our expectations especially for the amount of money that they charge. We will be returning to the area but will be staying somewhere else.

Have to agree with Gary S's review, we were a bit concerned with comments but every detail and all the staff we encountered were nice and customer focused. The Travelzoo deal could not be beat, we used 2 of them 1 night in Vinifera Inn and 2nd night at WS Manor. Our $100 credit covered all of our meals and enough for a bottle of wine! The package was exactly as described and we could not have enjoyed it more. Before dinner (we found the wine spigot) and enjoyed sitting outside around the gas fireplace with a view of the lake and talking with other guests. In the morning there is coffee, tea, juices and apples in the lobby, as well as friendly staff. The castle was built in 1820 and has changed hands many times...it is old so, one might expect a cobweb or two and dirt on the carpet but it only added to the ambiance. The food and staff in both restaurants were great, especially the made to order omelettes by "Tony" at breakfast. They were the best.

Room Tip: We had room 201 in Vinifera Inn and Pond View in White Springs Manor, both were excellent.

With all the negative comments we were really second guessing ourselves with choosing The Belhurst Castle for weekend getaway. But to our delight from check-in to check-out it was a perfect visit. No snooty staff, No dirty rugs, No rock hard bed…instead the staff was over the top friendly and helpful and we found the entire hotel to be clean and well maintained. Maybe if someone never stayed at a B&B they don’t get the Castle part of the hotel. It’s not a chain hotel so don’t expect a cookie cutter look. We stayed in the “Collins Room” on the second floor. Room has a beautiful fireplace, comfortable bed, updated bathroom and the topper is there is a wine spigot right outside your room (wine flows from 11 to 11). The food at Stonecutters and Edgar's did not disappoint. Recommend the crab cake sandwich at the Stonecutters, ranks as one of the best crab cakes ever. The pre fixed menu at Edgar's is a good deal. The hotel’s winery not only had some of the best wine we sampled in the area, but in addition the person who served us was very knowledgeable and helpful. The staffs at both the Spa and Edgars were very co-operative with changing reservation times to accommodate our schedule. The breakfast buffet is a good value priced at $10, favorite item was the made to order omelet. For wineries nearby make sure to visit Three Brothers Wineries. Get the Passport, which entitles you to five samples at each of the three wineries, plus five samples at the brewery. The Belhurst and the Geneva area have a lot to offer. Overall we had a great getaway and look forward to coming back!

Room Tip: Wine spigot right outside The Collins Room! (Second Floor)

Our stay at the White Springs Manor "Dining Room" at the Belhurst Castle in Geneva NY was outstanding. I especially liked the Jacuzzi in the room (with a rubber duck, no less) and I took a long bath with the jets running. The luncheon buffets at the Edgar's Restaurant were excellent. We enjoyed the fireplace which turned on and off with a flick of the switch. We became acquainted with the housekeeping staff who helped a bit with turning on the jets in the Jacuzzi. They were very helpful and responsive to any request, though we had very few. We have no negative comments and highly recommend this guest accommodation. 5 stars!!!
