We did not tour the house and gardens but we did picnic on the grounds and attend a performance of the Three Musketeers. It was a fantastic evening with an enthusiastic and professional actors and staff. I hope to go again this summer. Get there early, the grounds open at 6pm, to picnic overlooking the Hudson River and West Point. There is a storage area for picnic equipment in order to avoid walking back to the parking lot. A wonderful way to spend a summer evening!

We hiked along a great Hudson River view and saw apple trees and rose gardens. What a wonderful, historical place in the Hudson Valley near Cold Spring, NY where Barbara Streisand shot a movie Funny Girl years ago.

The grounds are stunning. The views are gorgeous. The little gift shop is cute and has some nice things. The tour was on the boring side; 45 minutes. The guide was pleasant but the house is kind of strange. The decor is so ugly. The lady of the house had the same bad taste the my sister has. Neither could decorate. The foyer is hideous as are some of the other choices made. The funiture is beautiful. Once you 've seen, Newport, Vanderbilt, Breakers, etc., this was a bit dissapointing. I don't understand why they moved this house and did such a major undertaking. It is definitely worth seeing because the setting is outstanding. I felt the admission was overpriced. You can just walk the grounds though and by-pass the tour for a reduced price.

We've visited many historic houses over the years, and Boscobel ranks right at the top. A fascinating story, beautiful house impeccably furnished and decorated, gorgeous gardens, spectacular view of West Point and the Hudson River Valley and Highlands....gracious welcome, excellent signage, expertly guided house tour, well-stocked gift shop, inspiring story about how the house was preserved and restored. I would happily spend the rest of my days in the second-floor library, perusing the books and peering through the telescopes across and down the river. Will definitely return for the woods walk (a map would be helpful), in other seasons, and combine with a visit to West Point.

Magnificent Federal era home with incredible collection of furniture and accessories, decorated as it would have been in the early 1800's. Lovely grounds and views of the Hudson. A terrific place to visit in good weather or at Holiday time.
