The Minnewaska Lodge provided our family of four just what we needed and wanted, and more. The Lodge is a lovely home base for exploring the Catskills, Hyde Park history, and the rural terrain and parks of Ulster County. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The service was warm and attentive. The Lodge provided many little surprises, too, that we did not know we needed but that the kids will long remember -- cookies, board games, "rock climbing" in the landscaping, and our own private outdoor area. Nearby New Paltz provides many fine dining options, from funky and fancy-ish to quick and good. Many thanks to the Lodge for a great week!

Room Tip: The Suite is a great option for families.

We found this hotel through TripAdvisor while researching the reviews on Mohonk Mountain. One reviewer said to save the money it takes to stay at Mohonk and go here and are we ever glad that we did! First, the property is lovely. Well landscaped and maintained. The lodge is clean and modern while still having that touch of "Adirondack" feel to it. Our room was on the 2nd floor. Cathedral ceilings, a great deck to sit out on and watch the hawks soaring over the cliffs, huge bathroom and large room with a comfortable bed.

There are only a few parking spots directly next to the lodge. The rest are about 50 feet from the lodge. No problem but just wanted people to know that they might have to haul their luggage a few paces. Also, no elevators but room levels are only a half-staircase up or down from the main floor so again, no problems with this.

Breakfast is included each morning from 8 AM - 10 AM. Cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, toasting breads and English Muffins, specialty breads like Pumpkin, Apple, etc... Orange & Apple juice also included. Coffee and Tea are available 24/7.

Small but well appointed fitness center is available and included in the room rate.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a cliff-side view. Magnificent!

My fiancee and I found this lodge en route from Syracuse to Kingston where he was picking up a car. We almost stayed at a Hampton Inn in Kingston for the same price, but since they had only 1 room left, we decided to keep looking- how lucky we were to stumble upon Minnewaska Lodge!

We checked in at around 11pm, so it was very dark outside and we couldn't see the grounds (or the mountains) until we woke the next morning. The lodge itself was gorgeous inside & out, The staff member who checked us in was very welcoming, told us about the complimentary breakfast, where the fitness room was, and that if needed ice, to come on back down & he'd be happy to get some for us from the kitchen.

What a beautiful surprise to wake up and open the door to our deck to see the sun rising on the Shawangunk Mountains! The grounds were just as amazing.... gardens, huge rocks, stone steps & paths, a huge deck on the back side of the lodge, adirondack chairs all around, and woods with paths to stroll on.

After showering we went down to breakfast in a large room with floor to ceiling windows looking back at the base of the mounatin, fire place, tables & comfy chairs. Breakfast was wonderful- fresh fruit, 3 different types of home made breads/coofe cake, about 8 different cold cereals, oatmeal, the most delicious trail mix/granola I've ever had, juices, hard bolied eggs, coffee, teas, water, breads/english muffins/bagels for toasting.

The room itself was very nice, comfortable king sized bed, lg flat screen tv, private deck w table & 2 chairs. The bathroom was pretty & VERY clean- white everything with a dark marble sink & Kiss my face brand products. I kept syaing I wish we could live here, right in this lodge! The only downside was we only stayed for one night and didn't get to explore the grounds & wodded trails more! Lodge is 5 miles away from Minnewaska State park which a great park for hikers, mountain bikers & rock climbers.

I highly recommend Minnewaska Lodge.... you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: we stayed in rm 215 King cliff view with deck
