We really enjoyed our dinner. We went on a Tuesday night. We had a great dinner and enjoyed the beautiful setting and gracious service. My husband especially enjoyed his steak - which is their specialty.

Enjoyed a great dinner over the long July 4th weekend. Lovely setting overlooking the Wallkill River in this former gristmill building (beautifully restored & in keeping with the history of the Gristmill). Our party of 4 enjoyed memories of buying milled flour there in our "youth".
Outdoor dining available, we chose to eat inside due to excessive heat. Great selections, service, drinks & desserts. Prices a little high, but when everything, including service, is so good, you don't mind. Will return when the weather is a little cooler & dine out on the deck.

The entire setting is beautiful, the porch over looks the waterfall, inside the restaurant the "charm" of the mill is ever present while feeling comfortable. Extensive drink menu. I had a "special" cocktail being offered that evening and my husband had ice tea, both were great. My husband had the steak, and I filet mignon with the garlic mashed. It was excellent. Cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth. While the salad was served with dinner, at first we were not sure about that, but it worked!
The coffee was delicious also. A dark roast, but delightful.
You are not getting away "cheap" when eating here, but it is worth it.

We had a delicious lunch after doing the tasting at the distillery next door. Would definitely recommend snapping a few photos and eating outside on the desk near the "falls" at this former grist mill. Lunch for two (with whiskey cocktails, of course) was delicious and ran us about $40 -- not too bad given the ambiance and location (not a whole lot around unless you go into New Paltz).
