Thank you Amtrak magazine for your article on bourbons a few years back. You showed me the wonderfulness of Hudson Baby Bourbon. Well, we finally got around to seeing where the baby is born, and yay! Tuthilltown is a wonderful place. We made our reservations for the tour & tasting for noon on a Saturday. Thanks to the jerks at Dollar rental car in Manhattan, we were running very late. The wonderful Tuthilltown folks kindly allowed us to move our reservation to the 2 PM tasting. That was so great. Thank you! We arrived right at 2 and hopped on the tour. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. They let you get right up close to everything, which I'm sure they won't be able to do forever, so head there while they're still small. Like many others on the tour, I took some very cool pictures of the bottles in the bottling room. Did you know they make some tasty other spirits? Their gin has so many suble flavors.. mmmm.... Sadly NYS restricts the tastings to three samples, but that was sufficient to get some nice variety. The staff at the tasting was super friendly. We stocked up on gifts of booze for lots of lucky friends. Oh, and of course, the setting is quite picturesque. Had we not been in a hurry to continue on our merry way that day, it would've been nice to stay for a snack or whatnot at the Grist Mill. In sum... I definitely will trek back here for really awesome spirits and a good time.

I mean, why not, it's booze! Oh, the staff is amazingly nice as well. We pick up something each time we go.

A visit and tasting at the distillery is worth the time and money when you are in the Poughkeepsie. We learned a lot about how whiskey is made. We tasted some fine products . The atmosphere is friendly, even for non whiskey lovers.
You feel as if you are in an old time rural still. the setting is gorgeous! Allow about 2 hours for a leisurely tour.

We came here more for the restaurant than anything else. The tasting room is fun but short lived and the pours are minuscule. The tasting is $10 a person for three tastings and you keep the whiskey glass, which is similar to a glen cairn scotch glass. The restaurant though is very good. Prices are very reasonable. Entrees are mostly Italian style and run around $10. The sandwiches and burgers are around $12 with fries. I got the gristly burger and was very happy. Good, friendly, attentive service.

We came for a noon tour and tasting, which was given by the entrepreneur himself. A fascinating story, with lots of science and art. Truly a fine craft distillery! Don't miss walking around back of the silos to fully enjoy the painting. Our only regret was that NY law allows only three half tastes, but there are bitters and maple syrup to taste as well on a help yourself basis.
