When we checked in with our 29 ft camped after reserving onsite, the site did not hold a 29 ft camper unless you want your awening on the side of the road, facing the road. We found a way to get it in without driving over bushes or trees. It was an open entrance that was not raked. It was the only way in. We were spoken to about that, then he saw that we had 2 small tents set up. The space is long and narrow that fit our tents and our camper without disturbing the trees or bushes. He demanded we take a tent down. We understand they make rules for people who abuse parks and recreations but we are just a quiet family that have been camping for more than 20 years here and we have never had anyone write us a violation. 2 other park rangers stopped and we asked them if we could please leave a tent. They checked out our site and said ,sure no one will bother you. We go to town for some things and we get back to a written violation. We go down go the ranger station and the ranger who gives us the violation won't even come out of the office to speak with us. We just wanted to clarify why we were told on 2 occasdilns yes we could have the tents and then a violation. I would like to mention many people on this holiday weekend had more than 3 to 5 tents on one site. We also would have liked to know why we were being picked on for the tent issue when it seemed as though we were not alone. Rules are rules and I truly believe in this case people can interoperate rules to adhere to situations. Obviously most of ghd staff agrees, since most told us WD could keep our tent. A quiet family of 4 looking to have a fun weekend. Mr. Ranger may I remind you that my tax dollars and my fee to camp pays your salary and a little customer service goes a long way. How you speak to people and how you treat people goes a long way.

We stayed as two couples sharing the cabin for a week. The lakeside location was nice however that was outweighed by some inconveniences: No pets allowed, the access is a steep hill, and lack of privacy. Lugging ice and water daily was tough as was the trip to the bathroom. Definitely something to consider especially with young children. Furnishings were nice with a leather sofa, table and chairs but the mattresses were unbearable. Bring your foam! I know its another item to lug in/out but worth it for a restful night. Also bring a couple entry mats to catch the sand otherwise it quickly scatters throughout this one room cabin. We experienced daily visitors who walked through day and NIGHT. Because this is situated right on the lake, folks walking the shoreline pass within 3 feet of the bed. Curious kayakers pull up regularly to check the place out. One family came and set up lunch on our one picnic table--we were nice about it but gheez louise! The lack of privacy was unnerving. Next time we intend to tent camp!

The Good:
* The campsites are a decent size and most have a decent distance from your neighbors
* The playground at the beach is very nice with lots to do for the kids
* Very clean washrooms and shower facilities; just remember to keep hitting the button as the water times out within a minute
* The beach area is a very sizable area with lots of picnic tables

Things to Watch Out For:
* A lot of sites are 'sunken' in so if it rains a lot, your campsite could potentially be completely under water as it pools in the middle of the site. Not all sites were like this but quite a few ours were... including ours during the trip :(
* The swimming area at the beach is pretty small considering the size of the beach itself. If you're planning on going into the water and not just tanning, would recommend going to an alternative beach as it can get very busy
* The firewood we bought from the front was very wet; we went during a very rainy time but still,,,

Room Tip: Recommend staying in the campsites with higher numbers (loop F is great) as other loops may be close...

This park is very nice. Sites are very large with f. ireplaces. Bathrooms were always clean and kept up. There are plenty of bathrooms to go around as well. As with all state parks there is no power but there are outlets in the bathroom if you need. The lake is very beautiful. It is a little walk from most of the sites but there is plenty of parking should you choose to drive down.

The location is very convenient. Very close to the interstate but not close enough to hear cars all night. the road nearby was very quiet. Only a 20 min. ride to Saratoga or to Lake George Village.

Room Tip: We even saw some 5th wheels and large campers. Make sure to ask them if they will fit on the site th...

This is great campground around a beautiful lake. The facilities are excellent, the lake is charming and there are also cabins for those who would rather sleep in a structure. The park naturalist, Gary, has lots of fun things planned. We went on a kayak trip, moonlight hike, bike ride and watched a fish filleting demonstration. On the lake we saw beavers, muskrats, loons, turtles and the fishing is pretty good also. Highly recommended destination.

Room Tip: Look at the campsite map and that will help you decide which sites are best.
