Nancy and Ralph provide a welcome break at their beautifully appointed
country B & B close to the Adirondacks and Lake George area. They are great hosts with varied interests in art, gardening and cuisine. It was fun to hear about the obvious care taken in restoring the large home and wonderful to have a break from tv and telephones (there is wi-fi/tv access in the sitting room.) I stayed in the charming Green Room which is spacious with its own bathroom. It was sunny, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. Breakfast is a treat of local and organic ingredients accompanied by great coffee. I had time to walk around the grounds (huge organic garden) and then down to a nearby lake followed by reading. Just a wonderful place to relax and recharge!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Wyndbourne is a restored 1790-era farmhouse, the home of its innkeepers. Rurally located the B&B is a 20-minute drive from Saratoga Springs and Schenectady, an easy drive north to Lake George and the Adirondack Park. There is a focus for breakfasts on fresh, sustainable, local foods. Attention is paid to particular dietary considerations. If you are looking for a quiet weekend in a period/historic environment, Wyndbourne offers a few acres for wandering, an orchard and gardens for exploring, and a view of the Massachusetts Berkshires from the property. There is a queen room with en suite bath and two rooms, a double and a twin, that share a bath. The double can be offered as a suite with adjoining library and bath with advanced notice. An exuberant, friendly, young Australian shepherd rounds out the family and acts as a greeter when guests arrive. She is kept out of guestrooms and upstairs areas. ... more less
