“prime rib”

This had been recommended by the Benn Conger. It was fairly close to where we stayed. Very nice hosts. Inexpensive for a wonderful prime rib dinner. Would definitely go back.

“Excellent food, great service and welcoming atmosphere every time we've been”
Reviewed December 8, 2011

Once again we were not disappointed in any way as we dined with friends at the Waterwheel Cafe this evening. We were seated timely, and a friendly waitress greeted us as soon as we were comfortably seated. As we dined on entree's that included a rich and creamy chicken penne creation, a shepherd's pie of freshly ground lamb, and a tasty elkburger with salad, we enjoyed the relaxing ambience created by gazing at the lazily revolving water wheel as listening to memorable tunes of a live performance by a guitarist. Having enjoyed our main entree, we could not resist sharing a couple of desserts. Our friends shared a delicious tiramisu while we savored the decadence of a chestnut and chocolate seasonal dessert. Without a doubt we will continue to return here.

“Very satisfied”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

We had been waiting to visit the Waterwheel Cafe for several months and a Sunday trip took us past. We decided to stop for brunch and were very happy with the food, service and atmosphere.

The space seems a little strange at first as you seem to enter through the kitchen and service area but the seating is nice and open. Most of the tables are along the outside wall of the building which borders a stream and yes, waterwheel.

The brunch items themselves were very nicely prepared - quiche of the day with a cup of amazing clam chowder and a classic eggs benedict.

We will certainly stop here again when passing through the area.

“Excellent food, charming proprietors and ambience”
Reviewed March 14, 2011

A very welcome surprise in the sleepy town of Freeville. The food was excellent all-around (baked brie, prawn cocktail, frog legs, and osso buco were especially nice) and the owners were very personable. They also featured live guitar music which along with the view of the stream created a nice atmosphere.

We're definitely looking forward to many return visits.
