If your focus include both Manhattan & Flushing than you may want to consider the Asiatic. It does offer a much lower price alternative to Manhattan. If your focus is strictly Manhattan the lower price point of Asiatic may not be worth it due to potential subway travel complications via the 7 subway to/from Manhattan on weekends due to construction or maintenance resulting in confusing detours.

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the main Flushing transportation intersection of Main St & Rossevelt (subway & bus stops). Upon check-in you must sign a statement indicating you will not smoke on the property. I did not detect any cigarette smoke in the hotel.

The property is slightly dated; however, it is very clean as indicated by other reviewers. The walls are indeed thin & Flushing is in the flight path of LaGuardia; however, the flights do not take place all night long. The mattress is not the best, but I slept fine. There is no room safe or small frig. There is a water kettle & couple of tea cups. The wall mounted digital TV has around 30 stations & there is free wifi.

There is a ton of Chinese restaurants surrounding the property, which I found on average to be over-priced & sub-par in quality.

Room tip: The front or south side of the hotel on 37th Ave can be noisy. The back or north side may bit quieter.

My girlfriend and I were travelling to NYC for 5 days. This is my first time staying at this hotel but it's her second time and she actually recommended we stay there. The hotel is conveniently located in Flushing near the 7 train station for easy transportation to other parts of Queens and into Manhattan. Around the hotel was a multitude of restaurants and shops. This hotel provides its guests with amenities that other hotels don't - such as slippers, ceramic cups, toothbrushes, and water kettle. The hotel staff was also very courteous. Overall, our stay was satisfactory but a few things that we were not so satisfied with were the cleanliness of the room and the $100 security deposit collected upon check-in. We were not informed prior to checking in that they would be collecting additional fees. Also, the housekeeping staff only cleans if you hang the door tag requesting the room to be cleaned. However, despite the fact that they make the beds and replace towels and toiletries, they did not change our bed sheets nor swept the floor at all during our 5 day stay. We brought this up to the front desk but they said they couldn't do anything about it.

This hotel is located very close to many restaurants, shops and a supermarket. Being located in New China Town, there are plenty of Chinese restaurants offering tasty meals at reasonable prices. The Flushing Main Subway Station is also a short walk from the hotel, making it convenient to travel to other parts of New York City. The room rate was reasonable even though it was during the peak summer season. The front desk staff were helpful and polite. Our room was fairly large, clean and comfortable. The inclusive break fast was adequate and alright. LaGuardia airport is relatively close to the hotel.

Room tip: Nothing in particular.

Check in staff was not very friendly. When we got to our room the a/c was not working and room smelled bad. When we called the front desk she told us we have to turn the a/c on, we told her it did not work. A few minutes later she came into the room and tried to turn the a/c on, no luck. At this point we were very frustrated and sweaty (temperature was 35 degrees+) She did not apologize once. We went down a floor to the new room (with no a/c in hallways) and stood outside the room waiting for the key. When I asked to wait in the lobby as I was sweating buckets she said that staff was on their way upstairs with the key, still no apology. We got the key to the new room about 5 minutes later. Room cleanliness was ok. Shower door handle was broken, bathtub also out of order. Water pressure was low. Also, hotel staff mentioned parking was nearby, when we got to the garage the attendant did not speak English and he was unable to give us the rate the hotel quoted. Only stayed 1 night for a family function but would not ever come back.
