Owner description: SplashDown Beach, America's Biggest Little Water Park, is located in Fishkill, New York, just 60 minutes from New York City. New in 2015, the Arctic Mammoth Family Raft Ride is a 5-person raft ride down six stories of twists, back-to-back curves and vortex loops. Thrill seekers will experience an adrenaline rush on Arctic Plunge Racer, a 5-story mat racer that launches riders into a head-to-head drag race to the bottom, flying over vertical curve humps and gaining even more speed before landing at the finish line. Humunga Half-Pipe is New York's only 4-story zero gravity half-pipe, and everyone is sure to make a splash with the Bullet Bowl, Monster Wave Pool, Croc Creek Lazy River, Coconut Pool, and Rock Beach. Little ones will love Splash Works with over 50 interactive water features, a Water Whirler. Boasting the best food in the water park business, SplashDown Beach offers hungry swimmers selections like Cosimo's Pizza on the Boardwalk, Cosimo's Shipwreck Grill & Café, Iggy's Fresh Mex, The Waffle Hut and Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs. Birthday parties, corporate picnics, family reunions and groups are welcome and private catering is available. Open daily Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Splashdown Beach definitely met my high expectations but did not exceed them. I see great potential should this place decide to expand a bit more (definitely needs another Bullet Bowl or should invest in getting another ride from ProSlide Technology Inc. on the other side of the park near Cowabunga Falls -- to spread patrons out a bit more). In addition, it feels as if all the attractions, even the lazy river, are miniatures of other water parks that I have been to. This park would greatly benefit from being more ambitious.

Aside from that, people should know that if they want to save money, do yourself a favor and go to their website and see if they have any coupons available. My brother and I bought our two tickets with the $3 off coupon per person, bringing the cost for two adults full day to $55.20. The few extra dollars we saved went toward renting a locker (costing $10 up front for a small locker with $5 refunded when you return the key).

Food quality at the park was what you would expect -- the regular theme park fare. The two of us ordered from the Nathan's hot dog stand and got two #1's (hot dog with fries) and two regular drinks, each at $5.99 and $2.19 respectively. I think our total was around $17.66 if I'm not mistaken. My brother wanted another hotdog, which set us back an additional $3.45 (including tax).

P.S. Bullet Bowl is the best, and the main reason I planned a trip to go out to Fishkill. My first time on such a "toilet bowl" ride and it didn't disappoint. Make sure to have a friend or family member with you to do two person tube on that -- and if they are an entertaining person; perfect. The wait, depending on the lifeguard, can be long.

Which leads me to my final point: Go on a weekday if you can...

My children (9, 7, and 5) go to this water park with their summer camp. We decided to go there as a family. We've been to the Orlando water parks (Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach) so we were not expecting that type of experience in Fishkill. First, of all it is relatively expensive (almost 30 per person). Though you can get a $3 off coupon on line. Second it is small, the wave pool is about 25% of the one in Blizzard Beach, but the kids loved it. It was more rolling waves, rather then huge waves. Next, get there when it opens and hit all the rides as early as possible. The lines grow and grow as the day goes on. The half pike ride was a lot of fun and scarey, but the lines is bad by 12:00. The other slides are not so bad and some of them (except for the Toilet Bowl slide) have minimal waits even in the early afternoon. The slides are a lot of fun and all ages of kids can enjoy them. We ate at the park and found the food to be not that expensive. We got a large pizza for $16, which wasn't bad and it was good. Icecream will run you $4 each. Lounge chairs are hard to find unless you get there early and put towels on them People were waiting for us to leave to get our chairs. Same goes for life vests. Get there early and grab them for the kids. You won't be able to find them after 12:00. Parking is free and it is easy to get to. We stayed there almost 5 hours and my girls could have stayed longer. I would recommend!! Changing rooms are OK though they tended to smell. The bathrooms were clean.

If your kids like water parks, you like Splashdown. It's relatively clean, but expect crowds and high admission for what you get (nearly $30 for older kids through adults). Food is decent and average in cost for a theme park of any kind. You can't bring in food, though you can leave a cooler in the car (skip the mayo...) and picnic on their grounds.
