The Madison Fire Island Pines
Reviewed July 21, 2014

Had high hopes for this place, having read enthusiastic reviews. However, the Madison is really more of a B&B than a hotel as it offers very little in the way of services.

The pool is pleasant and the hot tub is nice. The communal areas are also pleasant and the view from the roof top is good.

Breakfast is very basic, with scrambled egg kept warm and uncovered on a hot plate and jams and spreads left uncovered for the flies. Bagels, scrambled egg, spreads and coffee plus natural yoghurt and melon is the sum total of breakfast. Not what I expect for almost $700 a night.

The hotel could also do with a thorough clean. It isn't filthy, but it is grubby and the duvet cover in our room had dried blood on it, which was rather unpleasant!

Some staff are very friendly and others are unfriendly and cold.

The pines itself is not a place I would return to. It largely centres around some fairly lame clubs and bars and not much else. The restaurants are essentially snack bars / fast food places - there are no good restaurants here.

Had yet another wonderful time at The Madison. i love this place and can't wait to return. Laid back, meeting interesting new people, always a good conversation, an intelligent upscale clientele. It's also a quick walk to town or the beach, very well located, and Mike is the best host (Cody the pup is also fun). Can't wait for my next trip!

We went there over Memorial Day Weekend. Most places that had vacancy were pretty terrible. The Madison was by far the nicest. The pool area is great and relaxing. Loved the jaccuzzi, especially since the weather was pretty cold. The room was very clean and nice. The bathroom was a bit small but no complaints there. There was a continental breakfast served in the morning in the main area. Everyone was friendly and nice. We were a straight couple but didn't feel unwelcomed at all. The price was steep for Memorial Day but I think it was pricy everywhere on the island.

I have never so quickly moved into vacation mode. The Madison seduces you within minutes of arrival with its romance, beauty, elegance, style and calm. On a practical level this guesthouse is equal to any Manhattan boutique hotel in comfort, cleanliness, style, service and charm. It's amazing how quickly you can go from Manhattan to this bit of peace and serenity on Fire Island. The location is perfect, literally a minute from food, drink and a scene (if you're so inclined) or a minute in the other direction to one of the most beautiful, quiet and spacious beaches in the world. The hosts are professional but quickly become friends.

The Madison was awesome! The manager Luke was both personable yet professional a wonderful blend making the stay at The Madison the only place I will stay when visiting The Pines! The room was clean and modern inclusive of direct tv and movies. The Madison is both close to the dock where the ferry drops you off as well as being very close to the beach front. Every beach accessory is provided by The Madison even boogie boards and surf boards! There's a full kitchen accessible to guests 24 hours a day including fresh coffee every day. The staff was very helpful regarding info able the island and recommendations! Can't wait til summer to visit at The Madison again!

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. Beautiful looking place. Staff were very nice. Rooms clean and modern. We came just at the end if season so got a good price, but was very good value for money. Only thing I would say is put a sign on the door at the board walk. I walked past a couple times ;-)

I have been to the Madison for three short stays during the month of September. Each time I have been impressed with the service, the amenities and the exceptional competence and friendliness of the staff - particularly the manager Luke. I met both straight and gay individuals in a very cordial atmosphere. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the breakfast is plentiful and its convenient location makes it a must for anyone looking to spend a enjoyable days in the Pines.
